I'll second you on that one.. Don't know why but it seems that everything seems to take double the efforts... Must be old age for me :p

    Mornin all
Thank God its Friday is all I can say!!! am soooo ready for the end of this week!
Froggy and Smlsave hope you guys feel less tired soon as well! - the weekend can only help :)

Hey mw- thanks for the thoughts... I have to say my initial thoughts were too to do as little as possible, which amounted to getting new bathroom and maybe painting (painted whole thing 3 years ago so not sure how much of a touch up itll need) . Place is carpeted at the mo so is fine- just old carpet really , but agree it is a lot of work for something that someone else might decide to rip out ......Id like a fairly quick turnaround of everything being done within a month or so so I can either get it back rented or put on the market.... dont know if I have the energy for months of DIY at weekends!!

Been a bit of a spending week this week - some money on cards for a friend, couple of lunches as was lazy making them (been food shopping now!) and some treats for work! (not anymore...must be healthy! :rotfl:) should be a low spend weekend, coffee and meeting up with a couple of friends but thats about it...

will have a bit of a play with figures at the weekend so can update where Im at mortgage wise! oh...Im so sad.....:rotfl:

    Hey Radish
I was just searching for my diary too wondering where itd gone!..youve pushed it back into page 1 :rotfl:

Productive weekend so far...! Been spending today tho....;)
Got some shoes for a wedding later in the year ..came out of clothes fund tho @ £15
Coffee and cakes for friends I met up with earlier....was nice to treat thm :) then dinner over at another friends tonite £10 ish on wine or possibly takeaway!..

few MF and housey things to do for the week ahead
*cancel phone ins - managed to find a landline number for company on saynoto0870 - will save me a grand total of £2.99 p/m
*Confirm bathroom quote and start looking into suites so I know how much of my savings are gonna be gone!
*Get autoglass to repair windscreen- have a couple of little chips but with my ins they will repair for £10 (am hoping they will be able to repair they are only chips not cracks but have left them ages!!)
*[strike]Have 3 more books to list on amazon[/strike] done!
[strike]*Take 2 dvds, old mobile and BT home hub to exchange shop (anyone know what you do with spare home hubs?) - any money from these can go in holiday fund..[/strike] down to 1 dvd , few cds and an old mobile - rest wont get any money for! ...anyone know if its worth trying to sell old home hubs? there seem to be about a million on ebay and not sure if its worth the money!
[strike]*1 more bag of stuff to go to charity shop then house is (fingers crossed!) totally decluttered!!! [/strike] done and will get mrtyo to drop this off!
[strike]*Work out money needed this yr for xmas/bday presents, car ins, holiday, weddings etc.. and put in seperate savings ac...was saving for these monthly then stopped to try and fill ISA /emergency fund.... have got meself confused now on what savings is "savings" and what is gonna be used up on something else at some point....[/strike] done...total needed for everything included MOT, bathroom, holiday, weddings , presents for the year is £4339 :eek: means I need to save another £1551 to have enough...also means will have to get saving for emergency fund top up! will mean nothing extra to OP until this is done and then another £1500 or so saved for emergency fund! ...hmmmm....am gonna try and work this out monthly for next year! as feel like all my hard earned savings will then be gone!!
*Confirm tennants moving date if possible!...
*Streeeeeetch food budget and stores for this month....I think we will do okay and should manage to redeem some of the overspends....for anyone looking there is a free way to get some free chocolate (milkybar) on either the freebie/grabbit boards!! (cant remember which now!) ...this will certainly help (tho not the diet!)

No news on job application yet so need to get back hunting maybe tomorrow with a cuppa and a trashy film on tv!! ;) On the positive side have emailed a couple of friends who work in different areas for advice and I am grateful that I do have a job and income , which ultimately gives me more control over some areas of my life than not...at least for now
will update mortgage total on the 1st!
    have a good weekend all

    productive weekend so far ;)
have mostly been chilling and job searching today- nothing catching my eye tho at the moment...
gonna start dinner in a bit - roast chicken which should do the next 3 days meals and sandwiches !
feeling a bit overwhelmed at the amount extra Im needing to save this year for everything which will put a stop to any big OPs for a while...also worrying a bit about the housing market , whether flat will sell (and if so at a good price and/or quickly!) ....
Am going to try and make a resolution not to watch the news/read about the economy/housing market this week as all it does is depress me really!!
may make a list of the little achievements so far to keep me motivated...and must keep remembering this is a marathon not a sprint!! no amount of playing around with figures is gonna give me an answer of "you will pay your mortgage off in 2 (or even 5!) years!" so need to stop thinking about it so much :rotfl:

hope everyone is enjoying thier sundays

I keep thinking that if I stare at the numbers long enough, they will reduce on there own, not quite mastered this as they seem to be staying the same

House market = depression, so I'm not thinking about that either apart from the longer it takes to sell, the less mortgage there is to pay back and the more money goes into my account for the [STRIKE]Audi Spider[/STRIKE] house with BF :)

  • Glad Im not the only one then Radish!! ;) :rotfl: Of course does no good to keep wondering "what if" as that usually the last thing that comes true!! the things that challenge us sometimes in life often tend to be the things we least expect to happen!
That said...I am quite impatient so maybe this can be a lesson to me in patience!! ;)

Cheered myself up a bit remembering that of the savings I have to save up for £2200 of that will be in the account by end of 2011 anyway as regular saving! so maybe a couple more months of shoving all money into savings and then the OPs shall begin in earnest methinks!

off to get a little glass of wine to go with my roast dinner (had to check on the OS board I wasnt going to poison us!..God Im so sad! ;))

I'm the same too. This mortgage is not disappearing fast enough. Dropping 10K in 3 years simply isn't good enough. But then I think, I could be like the masses an not OPing and then I'd probably not be where I am now in the NEXT 3 years!!

Also I get to remortgage this year (towards the end) so hopefully I'll get that done before the rates go up too much. That would be upsetting if we missed out on a decent fix.
Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

  • Mornin all!
twinklie- glad Im not the only impatient one!! ;)
I seem to have got a bit of perspective over the last couple of days tho and realise how lucky I am to be in a position to have a mortgage and secure (ish!) home let alone OP /save ....

    MF wise
*sold one of the books on amazon- for the grand old profit of £3.10 ...mrtyo laughed when I told him that esp as the postage was 80p! ..lot of effort for that I guess! only really a couple more sellable things so will leave them listed to see if they go , they are professional textbooks so more likely to get a better price!
*food wise we are running down our stocks this month - have spend about £35 so far and hoping thatll almost last us - we will prob need bread/milk/fruit in the meantime! also have a couple of vouchers for freebies so will use them up too!
*petrol seems to be sky-rocketting and with 2 trips away (80 miles each way for both!) at the weekend its really making me think! ....still....no other way of getting there unless I buy a helicopter which is certainly more expensive!
*tasks for the week will be sorting out tennant and bathroom guy and job hunt!

have a good day all -must stop reading here and get ready for work I guess! :rotfl:
