If you are anything like me, my health was very directly linked to my happiness at work.
Sounds a great idea to be having a plan in place to help you stabilise it all.0 -
cheers guys ...and twinklie I did hunt out your SOA and it looks good btw!
Michelle- yep I think there is a link there , and I know I need to do something proactive about it not just sit around waiting for it to change....at the moment Im being fairly picky of what Im looking at ... there is limited other stuff around at the mo due to budget cuts etc.. so it may be able doing something totally different with a big pay drop in the meantime, whilst I look for something I want ... am ok with that option,..
at least I am well trained in frugalness (is that a word?...) if the worst comes to the worst! although being able to save/OP each month feels good so would rather continue in a position to do that!0 -
Good luck with the job hunt - I had a much better paying job before this one but got so bad politic wise I'd cry before I went to work in the morning. Got out pretty sharpish. Agree with Michelle that health and job situation are so linked, well from my own experience anyway. Can you afford to NOT get another job, healthwise anyway? Hope you feel better soon.
SOA looks really good, my own queries are a) income, including income from rented flat b) flat expenses e.g. boiler etc c) what is the joint account money for, what does it cover and d) isn't phone insurance a con? Hope this helps, all the other figures look exceedingly healthy to me.
Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89
OPs 2011-2016 = £45K 2017 OPs = £9250.200 -
Hey mw
sounds like I am at a similar place to your last job then... I want out before it gets totally unmanageable ...
I cant afford to not work at all, but if sticking to frugal ways could afford a pay cut ... am very heistant to have no job at all as think that would be more stressful!!
In answer to your questions
income- wont know exact figures till get paid this month - flat income is just under mortgage figure at around 550 - not a money making plan I know but renting to friends and that way dont need to save money/worry about unpaid rent /voids etc.. they will stay while we sell as well so never did it to be a landlord and dont want to carry on being one tbh!!
joint a/c is joint savings - we both put same amount in, plus a little bit towards bill expenses for mrtyo (although he says I dont cost more being here!! :rotfl:)
boiler/flat expenses (for mine) come out of my (now rather healthier looking) emergency fund -fingers crossed nothing major...
phone ins-yes probably a con! I only pay £2.99 as I keep getting sucked in by the fact that (apparently!) covers calls if my phone got lost/stolen and someone ran up the bill...not sure if it is worth it tho - the phone itself certainly isnt worth insuring!! so will have a think about that...
no other ways I can see of making savings at the minute!0 -
Hi TYO,
Problems at work are a big part of my game. If you think it would be helpful to go over some of your options or if you would like some advice on the specifics of the situation, I'm happy to assist. Sorry you're back to feeling down about the situation.
Cheers,

Thanks Billy
I may well take you up on that offer- just a lot to get my head round at the mo and issues interlinking too so by no means clear cut ..may PM you once Ive had a couple of days to think on situation and options!...
NSD today -hurrah!! however have been wasting money on food this week (that I dont need and my wasteline certainly didnt need!) so need to cut down on the "cheering-myself-up"-shopping... not sure on grocery budget this month but will have a browse/add up - reckon we now have enough to get us through the rest of the month so will see if we have managed to stick to £100 - Ill be pleased if so!

Hi TYO,
No problem at all. More than happy to assist if you feel it would help.

Afternoon all!
Thanks Billy for the offer
Been a rather pants week on several fronts- and made me again realise how big my MF push is about changing jobs, if not career ...
okay week otherwise, have caught up with a few friends which definitely helps put perspective back on the world...think my decluttering and mortgage talk is definitely rubbing off on mrtyo as he has been having a good ole tidy this week and also talking more about saving/OPing mortgage (actually when we were watching grand designs! ..think that may be motivating him)
NSD today as did coffee at a couple of friends houses, NSD tomorrow I hope (other than filling up with petrol but that is accounted for somewhere else!) , we have enough food stocked up again to last us forever ...grocery spends coming higher than planned by about £40 a month or so so shall see how that pans out , think there are more branded things finding thier way into the trolley , which I guess is okay still means the budget is only about £130 pm which compared to what we used to spend isnt bad!
Have tidied and done some washing today, nite on the sofa again tonite in the hope I will be fully better by tomorrow! then lunch out tomorrow followed by job stuff!
how do weekends go so quickly??? :eek:0 -
Don't...it's horrible how quick weekends go. Mine seems to have gone so quickly, espcially given DH only got home at 9am and went to bed till 3pm.
Good luck with the job hunt. What sort of field are you searching for?
Grand designs is one of the things that motivates me too!Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25
% of house owned/% of mortgage paid off. July 25 - 38.82%/31.66%

Sorry to hear that your job is so stressful, it really effects your life badly when work is so hard. For what it is worth I think that you are right to look for something that you will enjoy even if it is less money. Happiness cannot be bought however much you earn.
Grand Designs is a massive motivator...................although in my case a motivator to save up and definitely get someone else to manage the build when the time comes.0
