New diary! Took me a few days to find it - best of luck and determination for 2011 - look forward to following your journey.
I also exercised on New Years Day, the Shred level 1, and did one session of Cindy Crawford on Tuesday. However, am counting a week as Monday-Sunday so need to fit in another couple of sessions before Sunday. Can't fail on week 1!Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89

Hi TYO,
As obsessions go, kicking the mortgage is one I can highly recommend. Like you, chocolate at Christmas is one probably best avoided but that never seems to happen. Is there an exercise tracking thread somewhere as that might get me back on the Wii Fit!?
Glad that everything has settled down now and that you're in a great position to overpay and budget as you want rather than need to. I'll be properly impressed if you can manage £100p/m on groceries. We've gone mental with the grocery shopping recently (somewhere around £300p/m) and have been buying meats frmo the butcher direct - whoever said that saved money is doing something differently than we are! Look forward to seeing your SOA...
Cheers,

Thanks mw
I have to admit I didnt do any exercise yesterday as I was so exhausted I fel asleep on the sofa at about 8.30!! :rotfl: post-xmas-back-to-work-itis I think! ..
I have done a workout dvd and also a stint on the bike - my plan is pretty much alternating between the two then when iti gets warmer/not tipping down with rain like this morning I aim to build up to running... eeek!! I do feel better for it and my health is a big priority this year as it is for mrtyo after last year!!...so must keep at it ..and no I dont wanna fail on week one either - wouldnt be a good start!!
Hey Billy
Yep the xmas chocolates and staying off them never happensam trying to declutter them as best I can so I can start on being more healthy! am doing better than most times at balancing it with healthy stuff tho :rotfl: not sure if there is an exercise thread but we could add one I guess as it seems a few people have started off the new year with that goal!!
Ive been thinking about using a local butcher for meat as its meant to be better quality - not sure if cheaper tho , but tbh if we are eating better Im happy to spend a bit more (or cut down elsewhere) ...not sure how realistic the 100 p/m will be now work is going full pace as a lot of it was having the time to cook at home/be more creative with meals and bargains! however I wont know if I dont try ... am gonna aim for £1200 overall for the whole year as month by month we will probably need to stock up on different things..
SoA will be done at the end of the month when I have a good idea of what's coming in ... then I can play around with numbers to my hearts content! :rotfl:
another thing that has struck me (altho could be post-xmas blues!) is the likelihood of wanting/needing to change jobs this year... ...
on that note must go and get ready and out the door - thank goodness its friday is all I can say..:rotfl:
have a good friday all0 -

Hi TYO,
I've managed to keep the big boxes of fancy chocolate aside as we like to take something like that round when we go for dinner at a friend's house. I feel sick thinking about the fact that I wolfed nearly a whole tin of quality street in a week (excluding the purple ones as Moyra nicked all them!). I suppose the exercise bit can be folded into the weight loss challenge. I had the niggly 6 pounds to lose before Christmas and that has become 9 over the last couple of weeks - no wii jumping about whilst the Christmas tree was up!
I'm starting my lunch hour walking again today so I'll pop off shortly to get back in the swing of that as it helps burn off a couple of pounds a week. My short term aim is to lost 5lbs in the next four weeks which should be perfectly doable if I behave.
I hate to say it but the meat from the butcher is well worth the money. When I look at the box of chicken we got for a tenner, I think we've ended up paying around £1 per breast but the quality is far beyond any of the supermarkets (and we've tried them all) and the cost isn't actually that much more than when we stocked up on the BOGOF or half price chicken offers. I work in I.T. and the recovery is starting to gain some pace so I hope that the job situation gives you some clearer options in the next couple of months. One of my intentions is to at least get my consultancy up and running in the first half of this year.
Have a great weekend. I've just found out how to subscribe to threads (as opposed to bookmarking them) and how to upload pictures as avatars so I'll away and have a play with that...after my walk!
Cheers,

cheers Cath and SSS - feeling positive about making inroads this year...
Billy
I like you am trying to save the "posh" chocs for visiting friends etc.. unfortunately we also were given 2 massive tins of quality st - one gone, one going... and lots of other xmas type chocolate...I dont think I can bear to think about the amount that has been eaten so suffice to say I am back on the exercise challenge with a few pounds to lose! :rotfl: like your idea of lunchtime walks- good plan and will at least feel like Ive done something every day! danger is I work 5 mins from town centre so must make sure my walks are not in the general direction of shops!!
have done quite well so far on buying pressies in the sales (I feel some list making coming on...) its amazing how much cheaper you can get some great things!
will need to do a food shop next week and am gradually using up our store cupboards - decided will look at food costs as a yearly average rather than feeling totally tied to monthly but still trying to stick to £100 p/m if possible .... this does mean stuff like extra sweets/drinks at work/wine comes out of personal budget so £100 is the basics breakfast/lunch/dinner/snacks
also made another amazon sale- not a great amount of money but better than nothing! think the last few things probably have one of those tracker things on that undercuts the price..not sure how to get around that ..anyone have any ideas?..
decluttering going well -a couple of bags of books OH has decluttered for charity shop and some clothes I have then we are pretty well done for now I think ....there is a load of stuff in the cupboards but mostly boxes and bits to go with stuff so need to keep them till we move really and then decide what can stay and go...
was wondering too about opinions of house buying/selling at the moment . I will obviously research this further but any pointers would be fab. I know the general consensus is "buy and sell in the same market" ...but does that mean at the same time/within 6 months/within a year etc,...0 -
Good luck on the job hunt for the future then honeypie...I'm still debating about whether I need to leave to find one closer to home. But I LOVE my department...thats what makes it difficult.
I'm ok on the chocolate front. Nobody ever buys me chocolates because I don't like them.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25
