Hi, Can I please join you all

Me and DH are new to the savings game as we have not long become debt free !!!

I have found out today that my family are moving back to Cornwall after living up North for 15 years . . . and we want to go with them !!

To do this we need to save as much as possible in the next 2 years - aiming for £10,000 - £15,000

Today I have counted up all the "penny" jars we have and on Tuesday I have the grand sum of £15.00 to pay in to our savings account - along with £10.00 I saved by refusing to let DH buy take-away for tea tonight

Hope I am in the right place.

    T xx

I also would like to subscribe to the thread. I am aiming to save £45k by end of 2008 for my deposit. God willing I will have more than that though. Also started the Olympic challenge last week and by my calculations I should have made bronze for May 4th . As this is made up of new money I am able to still keep topping up my mortgage fund.

I am starting from £0 :( Well - £25.17 from all the penny jars that we have around the house !!

I am thinking though of finding a small part time job - just a few hours a week - which will be paid direct into our savings account to give it a boost. I also have a load of stuff on e-bay which will go to the savings account and also I am oing to be doing a table-top sale every month and again this will go direct into savings.

Also this is our third baby so we are lucky to have some of the stuff we need and I am going to e-bay and charity shop the rest of what we need apart from the car seat and the cot matress which will be new.

Woodyrocks - Good luck with your challenge and savings - from your signature it looks like you have loads saved already !!! Well done you !!

Savingforoz - Thank you for the welcome !! Where would I find details of the olympic challenge - sounds like fun.

    Save-a-lot - Hi there !!

  • Hello all

I'd like to join this thread. I am trying to save up because I am moving in with my other half in September, and I want to have enough to cover overlapping rent payments at the start, as well as furniture. I am trying to save £100 a month. I earn £20k a year and I rent, as well as having bills too. I pay £250 a month off my debt as well, which will be all gone by Dec 08.

I find it hard saving £100 a month. Will keep trying though.

    Hi

I am subscribed to the Christmas 2007 savings club and I thought that would be a good complement to this thread and especially for those who have recently subscribed to this thread... Christmas 2007 savings club complements perfectly.

I have a saving pot especially for Christmas, the aim is to have at least another months salary saved just for Christmas, but this, as my signiture suggests goes beyond money in a savings account. I include the presents bought throughout the year (when at bargain prices) and money saved with saver stamps.

I think it is worth investigating for yourselves, as it is annoying having to raid savings to get through Christmas... a little pre-planning will avoid that happening and the time to start is now.
