    November update from me:

I managed to save £753 last month - less than I'd hoped, BUT I booked a holiday for next year, which cost me over £600. So I don't mind too much.

My new total is £73,097. I realise that I'm not going to reach £75,000 by 31 December, but I'm ok with that. It's good to have a goal and try your best to reach it! :D

Wowsers! how long have you been saving for?! Nice one though :)
  • Managed to save another £500 bringing my total to £1000. Get paid again on 20th which is great so should be able to get another £500 saved but will mean a really long month!

I still save every week. Not that much between £30 - £50

I was discussing savings with my friends and quite surprised that I was the only one that actually saved money.

They all go clubbing every weekend, which isn't really my scene at all. (Which is prob why I can save, haha ). I'm more of a few pints in the local pub kinda guy.

Aim to save extra 500 a month as well.

Now our mortgage is paid, and the kids all but grown up, we are now managing to save. Up until earlier this year we were saving £400 a month. Not a lot by some standards , but ok by ours (and we have no debt at all). Unfortunately, I was made redundant, and the job I now have pays a lot less. So we save 1/2 of the above.
But it is moving in the right direction.

    Hi all

I would like to join your group:). I finally became debt free in July this year and have managed to save £2104 but it could have been more. I didn't have a focus and I frittered my money.

I have joined the save £12,000 in 2014 challenge as I would like a new kitchen and to have money put aside for emergencies. January is a difficult month but I hope to save £400 and then increase this in subsequent months.

I've done my accounting for the month and £1510 will go into savings.

Also, I'm transferring to savings another £1000. I've built up a balance on my current account from monthly 'underspends'. I've left a small 'float' on my current account, but the rest has gone to savings. I'm not sure why I let it build up to such a level, no excuses, I was just a bit lazy!

    Won't happen again!

I have 10,000+ in my current account from my wage going in and underspending. I need to shift this but I'm not sure what to do with it. I'm looking to open up a cash ISA but have never had one so I'm researching whats best atm.

I've been paid early so I'm declaring for the year.

I managed to save £1,030 in December, so that brings my yearly total to £11,927 - and my overall savings total to £74,127.

I'm disappointed that I didn't save the full £12,000 that I'd aimed for, but hey - I did ok! :)
    Merry Christmas and here's to a super-saving 2014.
