I couldn't be bothered to stop at the supermarket on the way home and have no non-alcoholic drinks in so I'm drinking tap water - it doesn't taste too bad actually

Oooooh, not sure I can do that!!
I did buy a water filter to try and stop buying bottled water but forgot to change the filter and now need to clean it all and start again which I WILL do in the school holidays next week.
But been very hectic lately with OFSTED turning up and parent evening etc.[0 -
I got one of them too but never used it - these days I usually keep a 2l bottle of mineral water in the fridge and drink it when I am in the mood for it. Before that, I wasn't really drinking from the filter jug often enough. I sold my filters to my bf
Bf is terrible though - he doesn't change the filters for months and there was green stuff growing in the jug - then he complains when I use tap water! I don't want to drink algae!!!
Didn't realise you were a Teach!

Thankyou! Am still rather chuffed although beginning to wonder how I can possibly make any more savings to find the extra money we need.
We shall see!moneysavingwannabe wrote:Had a bit of a bad day today. We switched to npower before christmas and got a bill today informing us they were doubling our DD for gas and electricity.
Gas seems to have cost £100 ish a month which seems extortionate. We are only in a 3 bed semi! Oh well pleasure/pain principle I suppose!
I have turned off several radiators now and shut all the doors!Bit late for that tho.
Bloody hell, that sounds extortionate! How much were you paying before? I keep meaning to switch (never done it before so could probably save) but every time I get around to it someone changes their prices and the playing field is no longer level.

Ever thought of tutoring in the evenings in someone else's nice warm house? LOL! Or are you sick of the thought of teaching after a day in the classroom?
My cousin (albeit in a different country) works in an office during the day but tutors five nights a week - some nights just for one hour - and she doubles her monthly salary this way

Hi,
We were with Powergen dual bill paying £59 a month combined.
We started paying npower £19 electricity and £38 gas per month. They now want £27 and £69 but we seem to owe them a couple of hundred after only 2 bills! Not impressed.
We do have a back boiler which is old and I know not very efficient but we have a new condensing combi ready to go in when we have the building work done which should help. But still in shock!!
We don't have the heating on too much as the timer is knackered and we put it on and off manually. So we shiver in the mornings.;)[0 -

Suze
Good idea worth considering...although I tend to have to work in the evenings preparing stuff for the next day and marking etc.[0
