I have student loan debt of 16K. I need to really think about property for investment.
Why, it's such a hassle and property is tanking right now... don't follow the crowd on this one, use your brain!
In any case, how did you manage to save that much by that age!?!? Maybe you're using your brain too muchSeriously, very interested to hear how you managed this...
First Direct account... so you need to earn £1500 a month, they'll give you £100 for switching... and then you can get this 8% rate (up to £3.6k max, which isn't so hot). I supposed I could just open one up and transfer my income from my Lloyds account to FD every month? Are they any good?0 -

Very well done to you. I'm similar but with a different level of savings.
Salary about the same, £30k. I'm 27 soon. Save ~£800 say a month as I pay digs and do own a car - have just under £20k in savings and blew another £10k on the stock market. Student loan of £15k now down to £10k.
You're much better off - very well done!0 -

Was on the right tracks, but ive looked deeply into matched betting and "gambling" and im going to attempt it for 1 month only
instead of saving my 500 this month, im punting it into betfair - and only going for a target to double my money - thats it.
If it fails - oh well, only 1 months saving, only 18 once, why not try it. Will be extreamly careful and taking advice from excellent people on betfair.
Il update on 30th November on how much i made or lost.!From England - Live in Edinburgh and work as a bus driver0 -
redbull5 - if you are going to have a go at matched betting make sure to take your time otherwise you will end up losing money through mistakes. Check out the board on here and make sure to triple check everything you do and ask questions on the board.
But I would definitely suggest you make your mind up whether you want to do matched betting or gambling. They are certainly not the same.0 -
Have to say I really rate First Direct: always had great customer service and the benefits are good for me (as just starting saving so the 8% acct is a good option for me) :-)First home- Oct’16 until June’21: £170.995- Overpayments made £13,784 (25% extra!).

First Direct.
Can I keep my monthly pay going into my Lloyds Vantage (at which point I then transfer it between my Vantage accounts to get the interest) and then just transfer that pay into a First Direct account from my Lloyds account in order to get the interest?0
