Anyone else considering the new 3.25% Derbyshire account? It's only BACS transfers so I'm thinking of keeping my Lloyds 2.96% account with Faster Payments as it really is so handy. What are the chances of a bidding war between banks to beat that rate? :o

Considering it, but I find it difficult to get excited about the odd 0.1% here and there. Am I being lazy? I reckon I've got about 40k that's currently on 2.9% (I think) at santander, but the extra 0.35% would only work out at seven quid a month extra interest after tax, which hardly seems worth the effort!

Hmm, I think I can answer my own question - I am being lazy. 7 quid's better than nothing. Will get on the case.

Hey Guys, I have finally achieved my goal for the year to have £15000 in savings! As i mentioned in my previous post a while back i will now increase my target to £18,000 to achieve before the end of the year. It will be a tough target but it will give me something to aim for.

I have a similar goal of £20,000 for July next year in cash based savings, I know this is going to be a bit of a challenge. :D

I'm up to £9,300 in the ISA so I'm creeping very slowly towards the £10k goal. Not sure if I'll get there by the end of the year as I'm also saving for a holiday but hopefully I'll get somewhere close if not.
ISA savings: £25,139 Other Savings: £1750 (tied up in bond)
  • I'm not going to hit my target now :(

After a car accident last year I knocked a few thousand off my net worth, and now I'm really feeling the pinch. Everything seems so expensive: especially food, petrol and travel; I feel like I'm buying less and less but my savings are growing at a pitiful rate!

I'm getting rather excited now that from December's pay, I will increase my monthly savings from £600 to £1000. This coincides with when I finish paying back a loan to my Mum.

Hope the £1k a month won't stretch me too much - think I might need to find some way of supplementing my income although running short of ideas now!

Still, on track for my £25k by the end of 2012 and this will fit perfectly with the £12k in 2012 Challenge which I'm hoping someone will be setting up!

Oh yeah, someone set up a savings challenge for 2012. I'll aim for £25k by December 2012 too :-)
