Had some folding given for Christmas which will go into savings. Nothing either me or DH needs so it can be squirreled away. so that will be another £60 to our total

He is off on tour again tomorrow coming back xmas eve then off again over new year to the IOW. While he is away I will be making use of the time getting some stuff ready to ebay.
Hope everyone has a good Christmas

Just done a quick tally after payday... I am due refunds of several hundred pounds (online delivery delays which meant I had to rebuy gifts) so with that, I am looking at around £41,785. If that's correct, it means that I'm just short of £42,000!!! I'm a bit disappointed but also proud that I managed to save almost £12,000 in 2010.

Happy Christmas everyone xoGet to 119lbs! 1/2/09: 135.6lbs 1/5/11: 145.8lbs 30/3/13 150lbs 22/2/14 137lbs 2/6/14 128lbs 29/8/14 124lbs 2/6/17 126lbs

Pay day today and have just moved £287.05 into savings...random amount but this is I have worked out to be the absolute minimum I can save in any one month should I ever not earn commission etc. More to be moved over shortly, bringing my total savings to £1305.
Very pleased with this after only just over two months saving!0 -
After the payday, I've passed the £30000 mark now. Considering I just graduated in the summer and started a proper job in August, thats an achievement i think! I have been working very hard doing some extra shifts, so very pleased with that.0

Hey Guys
... Been a while!
Well done to everyone who has managed to save!
Savings Total: £23,350.00
I had hoped to get £24,000 by the end of the year - which looks unlikely now but I *should* be able to get £23,500 which I am very happy with!
Merry Christmas Everyone!0 -

Thanks skaps. I have not decided on the reason but just saving for future. Will probably get a cheap second hand car next year, perhaps a house... not sure yet. For now, just saving!
Yeah, I've only been working for the past 5 months. As a student, I did some odd jobs too.
Happy to have passed the 30000 mark, not sure whats the next level I should set my aim as for next year!?0 -
Just transferred another £60.00 into my ISA, as I received this for Christmas which was a nice surprise!
Another nice surprise...I will be coming into some money (around £3-5k) in the next year or two which I'm so shocked about! My mum told me that her sister (who recently inherited a ridiculous amount of money) is giving her nieces and nephews a gift in the next couple of years (slightly long story about why she's waiting that long - won't go into it!). My sister had been dying to tell me for ages, and I'm so chuffed! Can't count that as savings yet but when I get it that will all be going into the pot. Can't wait!0 -
Hi
I'm 23 and decided it was time to save for a house deposit. Although I probably will never buy one until I have someone to buy one with. I started saving this Jan 2010 and really have tried to save every penny although I have bought a new computer and fish tank
why??. I am kicking myself a bit aswell as I bought a 4 month old car 2 years ago and could have saved this money. Although the car is still very nice lol. I must have joined MSE 2 years ago but forgot about the site and have only just found it again so reading all the tips is very helpful.
One thing I enjoy is my Xbox 360 and this year I’ve adopted the rule of not spending more than £10 on a game. This is because previous to this I was buying games at £40 a time and often not fully playing them only for them to quickly drop in price to £20 within a few months. It does mean I don’t have the latest games as they come out but there’s so many now at reasonable prices I don’t mind. I think I enjoy them more because I know they didn’t cost so much. I only play max 4 - 6 hours a week anyway.
I think I need to improve managing my savings next year as I currently have all my money in premium bonds as it was the easiest thing to do.
Thanks
Jake0
