Im up to £2k saved now which im really pleased about
Bought a new(er) car 2 months ago which was about £5350 ish deposit (50%) which used all my savings i had so glad to be saving again!
I am lucky to have £2k (a mix of back paid tax credits) as they didnt pay me for 4 months and then said they underpaid me and owed me lots more too
Not sure how much i can save monthly from now with car costs but im doing a lot of ebaying! and really need to start to look forward to get a full time job too if i can manage it
Really want to save up enough to move out! I see loads of nice furniture and things i want to decorate but it looks a long way off yet (im 24 now and cant wait)Make £10 a day Challenge June - £1700 -
I've been meaning to sort out my toiletries addiction for a while, but hadn't got around to actually assessing how bad the problem is! So I've been through the back of my wardrobe where I chuck all the stuff I'm bored of... this list below doesn't include the stuff I'm currently using on a daily basis.
The first stage of solving it is measuring it, in my view, so here are my shocking results:
(Type, Number of Products, Estimated Cost)
Body Moisturiser x7 £35
Body Scrub x3 £18
Hair Treatments (masks, leave in conditioners etc) x4 £10
Shampoos x3 £21 (though I would use these in the end, I always buy in bulk)
Conditioners x6 £20
Face Mask Tubes x2 £12
Face Mask Sachets x2 £3
Hair Sprays x8 £16
Dry Shampoos x4 £7
Hand Cream x4 £15
Shower Gel x3 £12
Face Wash x5 £30
Face Scrub x3 £30
Spot Treatments x5 £9
Toner x3 £26
Moisturiser x3 £40
Lip Balms x50000 (or I just got bored counting) £millions
Excluding the lip balms of which there are far too many to count in one lifetime, I estimate that I have £304 worth of unused toiletries. I am thoroughly ashamed of this fact, and hereby swear a MSE oath to not buy any more of these toiletries until the ones I have are depleted!
It's going to be difficult, but if I stop watching TV, listening to the radio, reading magazines and newspapers, surfing the internet and leaving my house, I should be able to stop myself from being seduced by glossy advertising. After all, if any of it ever actually did make me look like a supermodel, I would have continued to use it. Lies, damn lies.Target Cash Net Worth: £25K by January 2012

Welcome new members, it's really good to see the saving habit spreading not just to those saving for deposits.

Added another £50 to the overdraft, now just waiting for some money to clear and I will have paid it off!
Also my OH's just inherited some money and his parents have put it in my ISA because both he and them don't trust him not to spend it. Do I add it to my sig even though it's technically his money? I doesn't feel right leaving it out altogether as it is there when I look at my balance. Hmmm confusing."It is often said that before you die your life passes before your eyes. It is in fact true. I'd leave it off, it's not your money but you can add it on top as a bonus when you reach your goal.0

I know you're right really, it just looks so nice on my total
Never mind, at least I'll be able to add some of my own money at the end of the month, even after I pay for my car insurance. When he gets the rest of it he'll have to open his own ISA as it won't fit in mine. I'm looking at those that won't let you withdraw instantly, maybe that will help him hang on to it?"It is often said that before you die your life passes before your eyes. It is in fact true. Yay I've paid off my student overdraft! Now I am debt free (except for car finance and student loan) and can start saving again.!:j"It is often said that before you die your life passes before your eyes. It is in fact true. It's called living." Terry PratchettBought our house 2012
