  • Well done hostie, you are just a tiny bit infront of me at the moment, my update is in the sig, will be going up by about another £400 - 500 after tomorrow as it is payday so I think I can hit my target of £15k by the end of December.

Am currently working out my target for next year at the moment and it will probably be to add £5k to the current target ie. up to £20k as I will be using a lot of my wages to pay off other things next year.

  • Well done to everyone keeping up the savings. Im hoping to save around £400 when i get paid although i need some help to stop me buying a new bag! I have seen a really nice one and im finding it hard to resist, i know i don't need it but its been a while since i have treated my self. I need someone to tell me no don't buy that lol. Also been buying a few more scratchcards i don't know why i bother because even if i win i always end up spending the winnings. Im just hoping for a big win but doubt it will ever happen. Shrewsaver have you had much luck with your premium bonds? i have £1000 in them and have won nothing in 6 months, debating wether to put it into a 3.5% savings account although im not sure. Also happy belated birthday lokolo well done on the savings this month. Wow mcsaver well done i can't imagine how good that would feel to come out with that.

Well put another £490.64 into savings account tonight so savings account and 1 year bond combined are at £999.64. Got a cheque for £220 going in, hasnt cleared yet but when it does that will be heading straight for the savings, take it upto £1219.64 and payday on the 30th could add upto as much as £500.
Work in progress...Update coming July 2012.

My first win this year and also since my first bond in 2005, but if you look solely for this year the return still beats most instant access savings i.e. my win gives me a return of 1.78% this year.

  • True im totally on the fence with this one, i just think of all the potential money i could make from it if i won especially if it was a big win and compare it to the measley £28 i would get from a savings account which i am not allowed withdrawls. I think i am just going to keep it in there until
i see if there are any good isa's available for the next year in april. Also i like the idea of an unexpected £50 or whatever through the post when your not expecting it. I did get a letter from NS&I the other day and got all giddy about it and thought i had one and it turns out it was just some info :( lol. Fingers crossed i will win something soon and good luck with yours too shrewsaver.

Well done Rictus you are managing to save a lot lately wish i was so consistant lately begining to wonder if going to Uni is going to be a good idea, im going to miss saving. Hopefully it will be worth it in the end.

Your almost there vixstar wish i was near my target worked it out and im only 51% there im positive i can do it just hope no unexpected thing happen which will delay it, but then again thats life and its always full of suprises lol.

Yeh iv been cracking on, each to their own though. My vans packing in and i dont know if it is worth sorting it. Would be good if i could get a car on finance but with a credit rating like mine i have no chance. Also wouldnt have anyone to go down to cover payments if i stalled. So really i have about £1200, £1700 end of this month and i need every penny for getting something sorted. Really dont know what to do, will cost me at least £400 for van repairs+£104.50 6 months tax end of jan then mot out march i think itl need even more. So really dont knoow what to do. Any advice welcome?

Hi everyone, not posted here in a while but have just been paid this month and savings are now up to ~£28,000 so might reach my target of £30,000 before the end of the year. Also I'm hoping friends and family will be generous for my 23rd birthday next month :-). I am hoping to find a better looking job next year as my income is currently £1,200 a month and am hoping to finally make the plunge and get on the property ladder too.

Impressive savings everyone. Got part of my pay rise and the rest should be coming my way soon. In addition I have taken on some extra work so will get some additional funds in January. As the slogan say " Every little helps!". I was given premium bonds as a gift but ERNIE has forgotten me. Oh well better bonds than scratch cards as at least you can get your money back on bonds. Have been doing some surveys so must check to see if I've qualified for vouchers yet. Christmas wil be expensive as I have several parties and quite a lot of presents ( especially for children).
