Exactly what i was thinking, im out in the cold enough through the day with my job :) People at my work joke im greedy when there away home at 5 and im working on till 7 or sometimes later. Aslong as i get my Sunday off every week il be fine. It is a tough job but its amazing money for my age i think iv landed on my feet. Less than 2 years to go and im time served, set up with a career for life :) I used to have a clio, had a few problems so i sold it. Just what happens when you buy a banger from an auction. I dont have a clue what to do about getting a car. I have a minimum income of £1060 a month, thatl be upto a minimum £1375 in July 2010 then July 2011 itl be £2400. So could easy manage £200 or so a month for 3 or 4 years just dont know where to go or who to speak to. Might just try Arnold Clark.

  • Looks like your all set up for life, what sort of career are you in? My clio was bought off my dads friend so i knew it would be ok only done 30,000 miles and had one owner and that was my dads friends mum who is 62 lol. I'm a bit wary about buying off auctions you never know what you will end up with but sometimes you aren't lucky enough to buy a car off a friend when you need one just depends what your situation is. You know when you buy a car and pay monthly about how much more do you usually end up paying? just out of curiosity. I need a better paying job which is why im off 2 uni also get more of a rewarding career then, so i win all round. Everyone tells me money doesn't make you happy but without money i would be unhappy because i wouldn't have that security i have. I do agree money isn't everything though and it can't buy you love but it is a big part of life. Its always those without money who don't agree. Kind of annoying really i wonder if they were in the same position as me then would they really be saying that.

Exactly, agree with everything you say. Not checked it out but think it would be simular to a loan so for a £6k car, put down a £1k deposit(or car worth that as trade in) £5k financed, over 4 years say would be maybe £132.11 a month at 12.9%-prob be a higher apr than this, would mean pay back £6,341.28. If paid £235 a month over 2 years for the £5k would pay back £5,658.96. Seems ok to me :) Some say money makes the world go round, others say love does. I say you need a fine balance between the 2, maybe a 50-50 balance :)

  • That isn't too bad then and yeah you do need a balance i'd say money and love make me equally happy you need a bit of both, it would be hard to live with just one.

OK, Its my best ever month! I managed to bank £600 from my wages after taking away expensives for the month was isnt too bad... But I have been jumping for joy :j:j:j Because there is £8,000 winnings from the online casinos on here to add, But please DON'T try this yourself because it is very stressful and very risky and its my mind going bonkers thats not helping me in anyway but my savings target is £10,000 for the year (which I already exceeded) and I almost got it completed AGAIN in 30 days!
Thats a total of £8,600 in September.

Wow - many congratulations! That must have been a nightmare in stress.

  • Hi All,

I'm trying to be good and try and save as much as possible. Myself and my partner both earn £1,650.79 per month after tax and insurance. I also receive quarterly bonus' of around £500-£600 before tax and overtime is always available at time and a half. So there is always potential for our monthly income to be increased. We currently spend £1,290.89 per month on rent, bills and other expenses such as petrol & food. This includes £40.00 per month going into a Barclays MoreforeMore Savings account, (This is because I get the top level of interest, being a member of staff) Now this is only 1.25% AER. I have been looking at regular savings accounts, i.e Halifax.

Just wondering if anyone can put me on the right track and suggest what we can do to get the most out of saving. Not really saving for a specific reason but just want to be comfortable later on in life.

Thanks in anticipation for your help :j

It nearly went wrong a few times but its given my savings a much needed boost as its so boring taking forever to save a few thousand.

    * For anyone that thinks I keep constantly winning money - I lost £400 this weekend, I havent gone chasing this time and I have let the loss go! I am not buying my way out of a loss with my life savings like I have done last few times.

Well savings are at £509. Got my payslip today for payday tomorrow, £535 for the 2 weeks which is my pay with no overtime at all. Plus got a cheque for a homer i did, £220. Im due money from another homer but that will be just £60 i think. So not including the £60 yet as not got it, £750 income, £195 of that has to go out to pay off my credit car(£100 limit, use it for my diesel) and phone bill and loan repayment so that will leave me with £555 to save which will put me upto £1,064 savings.
