Debt free by Christmas! Sounds a wonderful plan :) Can't think of a better present you could give yourself. Best of luck with that.

My own savings have taken a thrashing again. Unfortunately I decided to enjoy life this month, and went to a music festival over the weekend, which meant buying the ticket, train, tent, ruck sack, food... near enough £200 spent :D Had a wicked time though.

Rent is due Saturday too! Ahhhh!!!

    savings update:

just a quick update on the savings front - was able to save £1250 this month - which is really good, cant understand how i have saved this much but hey ho :j

i dont think i will be able to save much this month because my car insurance is due - going to buy it all in 1 go (saves you money in the long run i think.....) as well as going away alot with work this month, florida, cuba, canada and jamaica in 1 month! as well as birthday celebrations, so dont think i will have much left at the end of it....

i havent updated my sig yet, but now have just over the £11,500 now, its taken me 9 months so far......

dippykitty - thanks for the kind words.

  • Hi All

Just letting you have an update on my side. I have passed the 10,000 pound mark (and still can't find that elusive pound sign key on my keyboard!!! lol) so I am very pleased with myself but wont be cracking open the champagne just yet. I would like to go much further with my savings and possibly get up to the 50,000 pound mark.

I still have distant dreams like getting back on the property ladder again but know that I will not have as much money to play around with, so to speak, if I do. Read somewhere that there are three ways to make money 1. Inherit it (well that hasn't happened so far......), 2. Marry it (well that's proving elusive too.... not so much Mr Right as Mr Psycho's out there....:rotfl:) and 3. Make money yourself - as I am doing, yeah, see myself as a money making machine..... these days. Well reading the papers, as I constantly do, they do say 'cash is king' at the moment and I believe that to be true. It's very tangible and I like carrying wads of it in my purse - I actually like the feel of money in my purse - perhaps I am suffering from something, money fever perhaps!!! lol I carry wads of it sometimes but I am still very stingy when it comes to buying a round of drinks (perhaps that is why I am so good at saving....lol). I have to say though that sometimes I find the saving process quite a slow one at times, wish I could find some more ways to accelerate it - I am sure I will find them and with your help too peeps.

Well I enjoy ranting on here or banging on on here (however you see it :D ) and I am enjoying reading the other posts from peeps. Really inspiring.

Would like to know people's thoughts regarding pros and cons to renting or buying property. I still feel it is a topic for debate.

    Best wishes to you all
