I'm in a bit of a pickle over my ISA. I have the Egg ISA (1.5%), so I'm feeling the need to transfer my £2,800 balance to another provider; but I'm just concerned that it'll be pointless because they'll drop the interest rate later and I'll be no better off
Lost interest whilst waiting for the transfer, plus the general hassle... etc.
When my fixed rate savings become available in October I'm planning on depositing £3,600 into the ISA at that point after seeing what's available then. Leaving the ISA money earning 1.5% really does go against my MSE instincts though! Grr!“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0 -
Why don't you open another fixed ISA??0

It's not letting me apply now
Hope it's not just for the previous tax year, now the we're 09/10. Have to try again tomorrow!

Hi all - just transferred my £3600 allowance for this year in to my ISA from my pre-ISA pot. Interest for last year all arrived on Saturday, totalling £342.83 which was a nice little boost. Signature updated to reflect all this.
£20k target is coming along well, might make it by November at this rate. How’s everyone getting on?0 -
Happy new financial year everyone!!
Can we talk ISAs? I know there is a discussion area for it, but there's so much stuff going on there it's hard to keep track. What's everyone going for this year? I haven't opened one yet as I'm still deciding what to go for although I'm leaning towards the Natwest one (seems I have to open a savings account though).
Am I right in thinking that I can go ahead and open the Natwest one and start chucking money at it. Then I can also open another ISA which I can transfer my crappy Egg ISA to? Everytime I think I've got to grips with it, someone says something which makes me question what I think is correct.0 -

We definitely can talk ISAs! I'm in the same Eggy predicament.
Thinking of going for the Halifax one, 3% fixed, but it won't let me do it online at the moment. And you need at least £1,000 in there so I don't know if my transfer will count as I don't want to find another thousand to put in at this point. All very complicated. Think I'll have to go into the branch to get it sorted.“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0 -
Lucky all of you lot! I haven't got enough to open an ISA yet (boo). And won't have for another 4/5 months, when I start my placement job (woo!).
Ha Happy New Year! I said that to my friend earlier and he was very confused, then realised and called me a geek0 -
I have opened the Halifax 3%, just waiting for my abbey one from last year to transfer in to it.
Can i put my 3600 for this year in before the transfer from the previous year is complete?
