Hi there,
Looking at the current market crisis, I am of the opinion that investing in Banks and Real estate are the safest and stock and currency are the riskiest.......... Its better to keep money in banks for contingencies and uncertainties.

Me too, so I'll be interested to know what you come up with. The only good accounts I can find are with Halifax but I'm getting dangerously close to the £50k limit with them!

Its that time of the month again, and I have once again managed to scrape together the £500 for my Halifax monthly saver - the 10% is a hugh motivator, but as each month goes by it is harder to find the money!I'm not a failure if I don't make it, I'm a success because I :tried!0

I have applied for a 2 year fixed bond at 6% with kent reliance. Rates are going down big time ad it will be a long while before they will pick up I would imagine.Had £80,000 in Savings - All GONE!!! BYE BYE:A Single, 27, Aspie, Gooner :A0 -
Ah OK. I need easy access so that's no good for me, sadly
All the easy access rates are pitiful at the moment... I keep trying to remind myself that not so long ago, we would have killed for savings rates around 5.25%!!!

I can't stand savings accounts with balances that aren't aesthetically pleasing. My current account is the only account I have with a balance that isn't a multiple of £10 (or preferably £100, but this can't always be achieved). Whenever interest is added, I top up the account to get rid of the ugly numbers. It gets on my nerves otherwise.

Haha really? I might do that. My Egg savings has got .12 so it is rather annoying me. But I am over budget already for this month, luckily I am working when I go home this weekend so I can void extra petrol expenses for driving 2 hours fri and 2 hours sunday! MEH!
Starting to write xmas list - got vouchers. But mother hates me having vouchers, but I don't want or need anything at the moment and would rather cut down on costs as I have car insurance due in Jan EEK.0 -
Hi All,
I've been reading this post for a while and have decided that I'll finally join!
I've set myself a target of saving next years ISA allowance by the start of the new financial year so I'd better get cracking and start saving properly (I've used this years allowance but want to be more proactive).
I feel that I am now in a position to set myself this goal as I've just finished my first week in a new job (lost job twice this year due to 'credit crunch').
I look forward to posting my progress!0
