  • good news Suzey, it's cold in Canada you know..... ;)

Had another good saving month here, i've managed to cover most of my savings direct debits with money left over from last month, a position I'm pretty happy with. I have finally set myself some targets savings wise and put them on my spreadsheet. I wanted to hit 50% of the long term savings target by the end of the year but i'm the best part of £1500 off it so I think thats a bit too much to ask. But the good news is i'm one month off hitting my OU target in order to pay for a course that I need to register for by mid dec, only thing is i'm going to have to start again as soon as I hit the target!

Hope everyone else had a good month!
  • Hi All

This month I have hit nearly 6,000 pounds in savings so I am quite pleased. I believe once I am past the 5,000 pound mark, savings will just be attracted to me, lol!!!!

I really am a converted saver - it feels quite strange and selfish now if I attempt to buy something for myself...:rotfl: (Hope they don't earmark me for Scrooge in the next Christmas Carol - which reminds me, bought some cut price Christmas crackers in a local store recently but in September???!!!!!, PLEASE! - has the retail trade no mercy!).

I too am looking at doing the OU Paulboy. I am considering my options but still not sure where to start - there are sooooooooo many courses (so many that I asked the OU to send me practically every prospectus they had!!!). I may look at law and business studies and I have already done a one-year ILEX Law course. I enjoy studying, learning new things and really believe it is a lifelong process.

Thinking of starting a website business with a friend in order to generate some extra income but need to think of a product that people would want and about which I have a reasonable amount of knowledge - I enjoy a challenge!

I have enjoyed reading the recent threads on this site - really motivational.

Not sure if I mentioned this but I got my overdraft sorted and put a cheeky £400 in my ISA from it. So that's great news.

Less great is the nationalization of B & B :( I'm glad the bank is saved, and that no savers will lose out, but that rate's going to go! I really liked that account!

Yeh but I imagine the bank will do what it did with NR, put a whacking great rate on it to get some cash flow in. Then drop it a few months later.

I looked at my budget thing from last year earlier. I had income and expenditure of around £12k.... Oh dear. But that does include student loan coming in and going out into savings, even though thats around £3.5k. Still, I spent £8.5k..... Oh dear....

Think I will try and give myself boundaries this year!!!!!
  • Dear All

Thought I would have a go at making my own lingerie with an old sewing machine I have at home (i.e. making my own panties!), lol - for a fraction of the price of high street stores. Just thought I would share that with you on a cold Sunday evening - thought that might make you giggle...........:rotfl:

  • * Savings Update - September 2008 *

Its that time of the month again when I post my savings total for the month. With having 2 weeks holiday off work during August and the other 2 weeks with some overtime. It hasnt worked out to badly for this month as far as I am concerned. After all my spendings for the month and the usual Broadband/Mobile Phone Bills coming out. I am left with around £700 to save which is a pretty decent result given that im only getting contract pay for the time I spent off work using up holiday entitlement. I'm not fussed about holidays from work Its just that I gotta use them up at sometime!!!

I might not be back for a while because im having a war with my computer trying to get it sorted out and everythings going wrong when I am trying to correct it and the DVD-RW has decided to pack in now as well :(

The Percentage Has Been Updated. Made It Into PLATINUM.... JUST  :T

Next month should see me break the record for the most amount I have saved in a year and there would still be 2 more months afterwards to add to it.
Had £80,000 in Savings - All GONE!!! BYE BYE
