That's great news, Suzey, good luck!!! :D

The spam was deleted by the way.

Eugh just committed another cardinal MSE sin and bought a take-away this evening. Looks like I'll be overspending by a fair amount this month.

  • Ive saved 30k over 4 years and im 21!! I put an offer down on a house yesterday so thats it back to square one of saving again, saving can become addictive :)
  • I'm going to make of an effort to save more of my wages. I set up a savings account to move all the money I had left at the end of the month into, but that didn't work so well.

I've now set up a SO to move a set amount out at the beginning of the month, which seems to be working better. Just wondered how much realistically I could get away with moving like this! At the moment it is about 12% of my salary, but I'm hoping I can up that when I get used to not missing the £.

Yeh what you want to do is set yourself limits. But sort it out as soon as you get paid. So you set yourself goals-

Mortgage, Luxuries, Xmas Saving, Car Saving, Food - once this is all sorted to what you want to spend and how much each thing, you can then say, well I get paid this monthly, I shall put away £500 a month or whatever.

Then any bonuses's or raises you get, don't change your budget, just save a little more.

I asked pretty much the same question and nobody answered :)

It didn't work for me "waiting for the end of the month" either.
So... I'm going to save 10% and put it into my isa. then take some more out and put it into an easy access savings account so if I do really need it I can get to it if not i can put it into my isa at the end of the month.
then when i get used to not having the money i can put more into my isa straight away :)

    good luck
