Hi all,
For me, £257.99 saved so far in September, for my own personal spending, and a nice £500 into our ISA for a house deposit.
I am also expecting around £125 this month from cashback sites so if that comes through it will be an excellent month as have not had any cashback money for ages.
According to my Olympic calculator, that means I have so far saved 42% of my personal disposable income which is great and I never would have done it without this thread and the calculator spreadsheet (but then I *do* love spreadsheets...).
Anyone needing one to play around with can see my siggy, may inspire someone!
On our ISA we earn around £83 a month.
On my personal IceSave account it's around £9 because I fixed £6k of it...
So... on my fixed 6 month Icesave... who knows, have the £6k in there and will find out in November!
On my stoozing ICICI account it's around £28 a month (until December)
The 12th is our ISA interest date. 15th my Icesave interest date and end of month is stoozing interest...
Compound interest is something we all probably share a love of!
We're both really happy to be on track with savings and I love reading everyone's success stories on here month by month xMFW #185
Mortgage slowly being offset! £86,987 /58,742 virtual balance
Original mortgage free date 2037/ Now Nov 2034 and counting :T

Hi Driving_Soon!!
Thank you for thinking of nominating me. I'm glad my tips sound useful to you. If you would like to nominate me, scroll down gradually from top of screen. When you seen the Forum Etiquette box on the right hand side, click on bottom point where it says 'nominate them'. Then you will see the Sub-Boards: Most Popular Posts. Click on the board which says '50 pound post of the month award'. Then you will see 'Threads in Forum'. Then click on thread at top of screen, where it says 'Nominate post of the Month September 2008' and follow the instructions which I've pasted below for you, which are contained in the thread.
Thanks again for your support.

Does anyone else have trouble working out what to focus on for saving? I don't have any debt (yay) and would like to be saving for extra to add to a house deposit but I also have loads of other stuff like travelling home (to Oz), emergency fund, even just having money set aside for clothing etc. I've got a sealed pot that I'm trying to add something to every day - I think this year it will probably go towards Christmas and/or travel, but technically they should both be covered by my regular savings.
Arrggh! Don't really want to be just saving 'in general' cos it's too easy to use it up again on smaller things or treats etc. Any ideas?March 2020 grocery challenge $921.76/$500AU
April 2020 grocery challenge $744/$800
May 2020 GC $724.11/$750
June 2020 GC $370.31/$700
July 2020 GC $316.87/$7000 -
With some banks you can have several of the same account (eg Halifax Web Saver). Why not set up one for each "reason" and see how you get on?
You could then have a "treats" account as well, so you don't touch any of the money meant for anything else...
