Just to say i am a little dissapointed by my saving efforts this month but am satisfied i did my best. I have saved £169 this month bringing my total savings up to £8966. A bit dissapointing really as i would have liked to have got to the £9000 mark. I am waiting to recieve cheques from Cashbag and TopCashback though which will start my new saving month with a £30 start.

Just a thought, i would love to know what £8966 looks like in real life. To me its just a few numbers written down.

Well I only managed 69 quid into the pot!

Which is my lowest monthly figure yet in 5 years of saving, but I am scheduled to pay off £350 of my student loan and that's a great feeling.

The main reason for the low figure is that I have filled my ISA for this year, thats good of course because Halifax just raised their direct ISA rate to 5.25% ..and becoming single again going out every weekend on the beers :)

Here's hoping next month will be better.

Becoming single again, oh dear zag2me! Well actually you sound like you might be injoying your freedom.
I am the opposite and have just started seeing someone- it definitely means I'm spending more on dinners and looking pretty. Maybe I should have picked a sugardaddy or something and it wouldn't have affected my savings pot quite as much.;)
  • Here is my update...

I have spent a fortune so far this month:

£700 on my visa (xmas presents, xmax clothes)
£150 which I have borrowed from my car money account (save for my car insurance)

I have however still stuck to saving my £550 this month..

I am just depressed now and wondering should I dip into my savings and pay of my visa which will add two months onto my April target :(

700 quid!! go sit in a corner :)

spending 700 pounds and saving 500 is not saving.

    Sounds harsh but its true.

I started my new job in November and it was a bit of a bumper month as I got almost a week's untaken holiday pay from my old job, so I managed to save £2000.00

I think it will be more like £1000.00 every month from now on, though. I save £750.00/month in regular savers so it really depends on how much I've got left over on top of that.

I think I need to start earning more so I can save more

In the New Year childcare costs will halve because we will get the daily 2.5 hours a free (some government scheme when kids turn 3) so this will help us bring more money into the house. Knock on effect is the ability to possibly save more. Can't wait!
  • Thanks for that Zag4me.

I don't know about you but I stick to my plan of saving £550 every month and have done it for over a year now.

I then have £500 left to myself for the month to play with so spending £700 and paying it off with my play money over the next few months and still saving my £550 as well is saving to me and strucutred.

    Hi everyone. :D

So pleased to find this thread, as could do with some support.

I save in a bit of a haphazard way and need to organise myself a bit.

I am saving for a new kitchen and bathroom and possibly to replace boiler an radiators.

I bought my house four years ago on a £40k and a £28.5K mortgage. I paid the mortgage off with huge help from this site. The house was in a bad state, but was all I could afford at the time. Gradually have done lots of work on it, the most pricey thing was replacing the windows. Kitchen and bathroom both liveable, but not nice. Kitchen doors always falling off, can't use shower as it leaks down side of bath etc. So decided in 2007 I would like to tackle the bathroom in 2007 and the kitchen 2008, or even better late 2007.

I save £250 each money into LLoyds TSB 8% account and £250 into Abbey 7% account. I would like to keep these accounts in tact and continue saving plus do both jobs

I don't spend a lot, so am hoping its possible.
