Yes but not for long. In times of massive interest rates you usually get high inflation too, so although you have to pay stacks of interest, within a year or two your salary has gone up enough to make your mortgage feel quite small.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Hoping it goes smoothly, I was reminded the other day how stressed DD was when she was buying, don't think I could go through it again .

Aww, yes it is horribly stressful! Fingers crossed it's plain sailing for him. Great that he's going to be so close though! Has he found what he wants or should we be looking out on the "have a look at this ..." thread for a quirky gaff for him?

Off to bed, long day today and long day tomorrow .

Now lost 8.5lbs this year - not up to HDK's standards, but not too shabby :T.

a penny picker upper. MFW approx 78% to go | FIRE 3 years worth (30% savings rate: now aiming for 40%!) | Normality is a paved road; it's comfortable to walk, but no flowers grow on it | Whatever you're meant to do, do it now. The conditions are always impossible | The only thing you absolutely have to know, is the location of the library
