7 accounts certainly isn't simple but if it works then it's all good
we have 3 current accounts, 2 cashback credit cards and 3 savings accounts, not easy to keep track if but worth it for the different rewards they bring.
To be fair, 3,4,5 and 6 only have 1 manual transfer in and out each month, with 2 DD's on no.5.A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Went tonight instead, 1lb on, not too bad considering we ate well on holiday
.
Going to be a few changes finance wise, will confirm when done. In anticipation of this have been spreadsheet fiddling. Decided to close Smile current account which I've had for 16-17 years . It's been used just for mystery shopping money and when I empty Peefer Pig but just not worth keeping it. All MS co's swapped to 123 and will be able to pay 5 bags into NW next time I empty Peefer so that will be ok.
Next - paypal, ebay and quidco to be changed from NW to 123.
Finally - no more Tilly Tidies . Well, there will be but they will be staying in the 123 account. So any odd pennies will stay in the account but move from the left hand to right hand of the spreadsheet. This means my statements will be much shorter .
Not quite sure how I'll cope with this simplified system (will 'only' have 7 current accounts :rotfl:) but am sure I'll manage. In case anyone is remotely interested:
- 123- main personal account
- Main house account
- Current account masquerading as savings #1
- Current account masquerading as savings #2
- Reward account for £5
- Feeder for reg saver
- Overseas current account
Hi Gallygirl! Glad you enjoyed your trip - if you can't eat well when you're on holiday, when can you? .... Very interested to see you are closing your Smile account - I'm thinking of doing this too. I have two accounts with the Co-op - a current account with the Co-op itself, which I use for my "travel budget", so save a certain amount into that per month now, and a Smile current account, which I have also had for years and years. However was very annoyed recently to find it pays 0% interest (yes I should have known this but have not been on the ball with it) and am also thinking of swapping to Santander - I have a 123 account already, but am using it as a savings account even though it has two DDs coming off it too. While I am at it I may as well close the Co-op account too and set up a travel account somewhere else that pays interest. Are you closing your Smile account to simplify? ... Is it the Co-op's recent woes? Just interested.Sorry if you've said and I've missed it.

Just closing Smile to simplify down to 7 accounts
. I was always really happy with their service but keeping it open to make it easier to pay bags of coins in 4 times a year is not really worth it. The last message from them confirming it was closed left a nasty taste in my mouth tbh - pointing out if I used my cheque book etc it would be fraud. I know they have to tell you but their communications have always been friendly and it could have been worded much better
.
Why not use Santa 123 as your main account and savings combined? I've just added columns to my spreadsheet to show the sums separately and when I want to move money to savings I credit one part and debit another. You could easily split the pot 3 or more ways.
Just opened new FD reg saver - took 30 secs. They've already taken the money from my account (but not added to reg saver
)
