Hi Dragon - I agree, I don't think she was very professional, but I also don't think it was the stuff of which successful complaints are made. "She only gave me the time I was entitled to, she didn't let me talk" - in other consultants, thats completely normal. I'm just going to mark it and learn and move on. But thank you :kisses3:

Oh dear me KC, Yoda, scouse quiet ..I am scared!! ............... me thinks that consultant will feel your wrath when you have worked into it. You should complain, 20 minutes is the NHS standard, what is the private standards. And yes, Dragon is right 2 hour wait is even worse than NHS these days.
Just because she is private does not mean that you should walk away quietly. You deserve respect. You may not have RA but there are ways to talk you through what is wrong and that is not the way.

As for trying to be like Hypno, well that would be setting even Anthea Turner up for a fall I think ;).

My lists came about when I had lived in one house for 7 years and still hadnt unpacked everything and despite living in a 3 bedroom house I was confined to one bedroom and one lounge. The lists worked when downsizing to the flat. Mr C on the other hand left Scotland 10 years ago and has never unpacked since. Thus I have inherited his room of doom. Convinced that I will have that until we move again.

(((hugs))) KC, you have a good night crying and feeling sorry for yourself and angry at the consultant. Then it will be time to move forward with a fresh day and look to see what the next step brings.

Thank you all! I'll say it again, people on here are so kind!

:rotfl:at the scary Scouse, cheri :D this meeting today, btw, was NHS, not private - my mum paid for the intial private consultation to speed things up, but there were a series of bollixes after that, so this is the first actual so-called treatment meeting. Which has supplied me with two steroid injections, okay.

I really don't think there's anything that would justify the effort of complaining, I honestly don't - I have a complaint outstanding at my previous GP's - the one who said my family history of skin cancer and my moles everywhere weren't "exciting" and I have no hesitation in taking that further - they've tried to give me the brushoff. That whole thing has been abominable - this, by comparison, is disappointing, thats all - she's given me average service, and I'm not going to make a fuss about the long wait, I'm just not - life is too short to spend on that - it certainly wouldn't change anything, and I just don't want to waste my very scarce energy on it. I hope you all understand :o

I think you're right! Her energy now she's debt free is all employed in zooming about (and keeping on top of the ironing :D)

That makes sense - when it gets like that, you have to take severe action :A

Truly, please believe me, I don't feel upset any more - they don't see me as a bad case (and lets be fair, there were people with crutches and zimmers and wheelchairs all over the place). I'm not upset! I let the upset go, and now I'm just tired - I'm going to spend my energy on me, simple as that. I'm going to earn lots of dosh on the trading, and get as much good stuff inside me as I can, and make the garden a wonderful healing place, get my pension fund up and running, and I'm going to be healthy and feed my travel bug for years to come. Thats what I care about, and thats the direction I'm looking. With the aid of Cheri's list :D:D:D

I started the "done" section, which will definitely cheer me up :D

Sorry you were treated so badly KC

But what I don't understand is why she would want to give you the injections if you don't have RA, or am I being dense?

Glad you have let go of the anger but I have hugs to spare if you need them :D

  • Sorry I couldnt come on sooner x

It doesnt matter whether you have signs or the full blown thing there is no way she should have given you the steroids without waiting for the anaesthetic to work.

You have waited so long for this and although you were in and out with no chance to talk you have got a good answer which is that steroids will hopefully keep it at bay for a while longer. I am not suprised to hear you cried - I would have done too. Give them a few days to settle, it will take that long to really feel any effects.

I'm assuming steroid injections are for osteo arthritis too, Maty. I'll have a little check.

As for the anger - I've kind of transmuted it, I've still got it, but its turned into a very calm determination not to be ground down, and to have my life back - age-appropriate, as we never *return" to a life, of course, but I mean doing what I want to do, when I want to do it, enjoying myself, basically :)

All hugs on here gratefully accepted and joined in on :)
