Thanks all! I keep comparing myself to Hypno, and despairing because she moved so much more recently than me - but if Pippi's still got boxes, and LT does that to her list, then I'm in good company after all! The only boxes completely untouched are under the stairs, and I don't want to disturb the spiders yet :o but there are quite a few (boxes, that is :rotfl:) tho they all seem to be of the photo frames, stuff-on-the-walls type stuff. There are some lovely sidelights that have to have more electrical work done, but I can't face that right now :o and anyway, the downsize money has gone, and I need to watch it now.

I guess my focus now is on making the house liveable in every area - I can't erect the bedframe my sister gave me, not completely, there isn't quite room the way things are, and there's nowhere else to put it. So the list for the next few weeks is:
    - some things up in the loft - the top of dishywishy2, the bedframe, thats all really.
    - "construct" (layer - its complicated) the single bed, including glueing together some foam pieces to underlie the actual mattress. Doesn't "glueing" look a funny word :p
    - finish the windows work, curtains and whatnot - thats not too bad, actually.
    - get a health routine going - I finally have my rheumatology appointment today, more than 3 months after the one that went wrong, so that, as well as my current ex-cold, is a focus to zhuzz me along.
    - get the s*dding trading going, and get some money coming in, so I can build up a s*dding pension fund and retire!

    Thats it, really :D

Thanks! And there's another one in the "leave it for now" camp, yay :T:T:T tho I can't really do too much of that, there just isn't the room in here. Its lovely to see proper rooms emerging, tho.

    Yay for proper rooms :T

I think liveable is fine.. you can sort the details as and when you have time/ energy/ inclination. I've still got lots of stuff under the bed and in a cupboard, to be sorted as-and-when :)

Took me 9 years to decide where the pictures should go on the walls :o

In my defence most of the plaster was crumbling and it took me ages to be able to afford to do each room :D

But I do think you need to live in a place a while before you *know* how each room should be/look/feel. Same with the garden :)

Absolutely! At the moment, to be honest, it would just be using the pegs/screws that are already up, except for a mirror over the new cloakroom washbasin.

I hope everyone has a good day, and takes care of themselves - be careful of those germs out there, people (said in the manner of NYPD Blue :) )

Well. How can I put this? Turns out Lula had the right idea when she said "f*** off, I'm fabulous". I'd met this rheumatology consultant in August for my private initial consultation, which my mum wanted to pay for. And today, even today, a support staff member told me how lovely she was, that the 1.75 hours overrun happened because she was so wonderful, and listened to people, and explained twice if they needed her to, everybody loves her.

She doesn't love me. And I don't love her! My research says she's the best, but I tell you what, I don't give everything to my clients that come at the beginning of the day - I pace myself so that I have just as much left for the clients that come at the end. I don't give an hour to the first person I see, then get the last one to wait for nearly two hours and then fob them off with 20 minutes (which is the actual time allotted by the NHS for these consultations, lets be fair). (No, lets not be fair).

Steroid injections in the most painful parts, and come back in 6 months time. And oh, lets not wait for the local anaesthetic to take effect. I'm a little puzzled - I can't be bothered being very puzzled - she liked me, I saw the letter she wrote to my GP - maybe thats the point, she works really subjectively, and when she saw me it was a nice bright summer day, and today its the end of the shift on a winter day and she's hungry and she's more concerned to teach her medical student than talk to me.

Well, I cried all the way home (and I wasn't even embarrassed!) and ate cows milk cheese on wheatbread with chocolate cake for afters. And now I have a cup of coffee, much too late in the day. There's no help out there for the likes of me, even tho I said more about the pain than was realistic right now, the concensus seemed to be that actually I'm fine - not much wrong with me. They might as well have told me to p*ss off, as a member of the Worried Well, and stop taking up the spaces meant for people who are seriously ill.

The only good thing to come out of the day is that right now, I apparently don't have rheumatoid arthritis after all. The analysis of the scans I had back in November is still not done, but she had them on her screen, and there are "features", but no RA itself.

Something's broken for me, something's changed. I'm not sure how to put it yet, but the quote from Lula's diary title is definitely apt. This consultant got my scouse up, the dark side - not Darth Vader, more Yoda in a fetching deep emerald .... nice and calm tho, which is pleasant.
