:wave::wave::wave: Happy New Year!
Hello all! Thanks for the good wishes, and returned to you, and everyone else, many times over :kisses3:
I had a lovely evening - met up with friends, friends of friends, and South African rellies of my business partner. I did leave early, as I thought I would, and because it was such a weird time, the train was practically empty (didn't stop it being loud tho)
And I'm starting 2012 without a hangover, and without that dizzy feeling that comes from not enough sleep :j:j:j
So, onwards and upwards with The Cunning Plan :j:j:j although what Taxi says is also true - lack of properly priced pesto is a tragedy2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Happy New Year KC :kisses3:
By chance yesterday I saw a bit of Nigel Slater and he was making his version of pesto and I immediately thought of you !

Thanks for that linkie - I'll watch it as soon as Winter Wipeout finishesI'm loving the sound of that.
Its definitely a slow, indoor kind of day, apart from a walk after lunch, setting up for the future, very nice, very happy2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Actually KC this is (hopefully) a better link - the first one didn't have any commentary

Oh! Well, commentary is always good - downloading it now, if I watch direct it often freezes - I'm looking forward to this!
Right, must get going and do a little bit of pottering before I watch that2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Happy 2012 KC!
Can't tell you how happy we are to hear you went out last night & enjoyed yourself! YEAH!!!:j:jlack of properly priced pesto is a tragedy
Do you have a Lid!'s near you? -They had both green & red pesto there yesterday - decent ingredients & very affordable! - also comes in glass jars not plastic pots! (this has become another selling point for me)

RT & OH4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! (24 OCT 2016)(With heartfelt thanks to those who have gone before us & their indubitable generosity.)...and now I have a mortgage! (23 AUG 2021)New projection - 14 YEARS 8 MONTHS LEFT OF 20 YEARS (reduced by 16 mths)Psst...I may have started a diary!0 -
Hello RT, Happy New Year to you and OH!
Yep, there's a Lidl's in the next town - its only a 20 minute bus away, or a 10 minute train .... its the flavour thats so troubling, I'm such a perfectionist! The Sainsbo that I use here in this town, for instance, has pesto thats okay for about £1 - that won't break the bank, but believe me, finding that 60p Asda stuff took ages - my taste buds must be very out of sync with the norm :rotfl:
Anyway, I shall give Ellidee's/Nigel's recipe a go in spring, when I've grown some basil, and I *will* explore Lidl. I'll survive!
Nigel's recipe has him bashing the basil leaves in a wide based mortar - and what I didn't say about the trip to Asda is that I at long last bought a granite mortar and pestle. I've been ogling a ceramic or granite one for years, but always refused to buy one at £20, or second hand, just a quirk of mine. This one in Asda, its granite, pretty big (not as big as Nigel's but we can't have everything:D:D:D) and it was £6. I'm a very happy bunny.
Well, I can't put it off any longer. I'm going to have to use the new storage stuff I bought at tatco ... bit of a wander around on here first, I think.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
