I'm checking in less and less often myself
hmmm - that must be why it's not the least bit overwhelming to catch up with you on the weekends after going awol on the weekdays!!!
Am sooooooooooooo impressed to hear about your jam!!! - how many jars did you get in the end? - I keep seeing reduced cranberries at W@itrose -they don't seem to move off the shelves the way they do across the pond - so was thinking about trying out the jam cycle on my breadmaker. Any clue what the pectin content is like for crans??? - at 10p to 49p a bag perhaps some [STRIKE]cheapy[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]frugal[/STRIKE] MSE valentine's pressies could be made?

Hiya :j if I saw them reduced like that, I'd buy them too - at ordinary price, they're way too expensive, and I just don't trust the way all the supermarkets price fruit these days - so much "2 for 1", etc, you end up not knowing what the real price is, so I stay away a lot of the time.
No *idea* on the pectin content ... I have lots of dried cranberries around, but I just soak them and some dried apricots, and eat them as islet me know what you try!
As to my jam .... oops ... it hasn't set ... I'm boiling it again now, and when I checked on it, it was splatting all over the hob I cleaned so carefully yesterdayI'm not confident!

Aww, thanks for taking time to post here Pippi, I know you're rushed off your feet. Hope your chookies and childerbeasts and you and your OH all have a lovely time, in your various locations :T
Today ... hmmm, starting to feel a little bit pushed for time ... bedframe not even out of its boxes yet, tho it doesn't have to be done before Christmas, but it *does* have to be got out of the way of various doors opening :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:. Okay, insurance company, repair line, wrap presents. Oh, paid work. That will help2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Morning Karma et al,
Tis Yule today; shortest day & then we return towards the lighter & longer ones
Typically, here we have a dense grey covering of cloud & drizzle ( & not the lemon cakey sort unfortunately) but it's remarkably un-cold.
Mmmmm dried cranberries, never tried those, love apricots though *makes mental note to eat more of that type of snacky stuff*
Looking forward to seeing your sparkly social self in the New Year KC

Hi Lula! Great minds ... I was just about to open another tab and check when the solstice is, my diary doesn't note it .... and its TODAY!
It *is* remarkably uncold, isn't it:j and as its the solstice, yes, here we go towards the light and all things fabulous.
Reviewing the year - well, my building work was finished early on, almost all the flooring is down (how appropriate! the basics! :j) the garden is halfway prepped for next year, I haven't descended to the low points of the last few winters, and in fact, am ready to embrace life again, in all its glory :j:j:j
On here, I suspect that may mean joining in on other people's threads rather than running my own, but this one is definitely still going, until I really am flying.
It'll be :dance::dance: but in my own particular way, with lots of :coffee: and :bdaycake: out rather than
I know something of how bad the economy of the country and the world is in, but for me personally, I've been consolidating my position the last 18 months or so, and now I'm ready to flap my wings and fly :A2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Fabulous post Karma xx
Ooh cranberries - we got one of Delia's cranberry relish packs in Waitrose for 59p yesterday (bag of cranberries, an orange and some spiced sugar - should be £2.99!), going to keep an eye out for more of those! Not made cranberry jam but a few recipes I've seen have apple in I guess to add extra pectin and bulk. Fancy some chutney with them in too... yum.Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Thanks Squizz! I may well move house again in this life, and if I do, I'll be keeping an eye out for easy access to a Waitrose
that pack sounds lovely.
