I'm a bloke - of course it's my fault.
I'm glad you know your place, Z:D:D
What? You smear stuff with meringue and squirty cream?
I know that you know that I know that you know:D:D
What? You have to pay for that? We must be less tolerant up here. Garden waste would be subject to the "hotter than the gates of Hell bonfire"...Pippilongstocking wrote: »Oh dear you've a tin of spam on your thread kc
Off to catch up on your exploits, I've reported the spam.
Thanks Pippi - its gone already, I can't see it - that was fast!
Today ... gulp, no paid work - I've just been going through Martin's email, and doing stuff - got a ticket to the National Home Improvement Show, got some free kindle books (Stressproof your life!!and Jane Eyre), I see I can watch the Orange film for 35p downloaded to my laptop, which is v cool. So, since this week is garden week, I'll focus on stuff out there, if it ever stops raining. I'm also using my woodfiller wherever I can inside the house, and I have to say it really makes the skirting boards look better
Ta-da list will be posted later2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Well, perhaps if there was cream and meringue involved that might get the developers' attention!
Sounds like you had a really good day Karma.. mmm pestoMartin's email freebies sound good, must check that out.

Morning!

Nope, its not doing it for me :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I think I'd better see what you're up to instead2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Just squeaking into the normal working day for a ta-da list! Here it is:
- couple of emails.
- checked out ordering green bin - they're sending me a standing order, and there's a 4 - 5 month waiting list - I'm going to try my hardest to clear the place so I don't have to use it, actually, tho I think once you send the SO in, you're committed - I'll have to check that out with them. I really don't like the system
- carried on rearranging the kitchen surfaces - the thing is, they were *all* getting really dirty the way it was, so I've got dirty things that spill, like the kettle, the microwave, and the toaster, on two bits, and a third bit (they're all separate) is just for storage, basically. Feels better.
- I've done *loads* of scanning - just finishing it off now, actually. This is the declutter to end all declutters
- at lunchtime, I took a proper break, and went to have a nosy at the new showhouse thats just opened up on a development by me. Very nice too! Not that I'm actually going to move a hundred yards, after everything I've done here, but I'm just interested to see what the new standards are.
- straight into the garden when I got back, another bag or garden rubbish gone, and then too many wasps on the grass, so I started on the kitchen window border - clearing it of weeds and soil, and putting the stones to one side, so I can use them to cover the dratted fleece that probably won't work :rotfl:
Off to do more of that now!
Hope everyone has a lovely evening - it was throwing it down here all morning, but its turned into a *gorgeous* afternoon2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Busy busy!
I've been out and done some gardening and headed up to the loft again where we now have loads of old empty boxes for tomorrows recycling collection, 2 black bags to the tip and I took some more clothes to the Salvation Army.
It must be catchingOne small step for ME, one giant leap for my family!
2015 - my Amazon Gift Certificate mini challenge - saving to buy small household electrical items.

Sounds like a most productive day. TADA (with drumrolls).
Oop here in Yorkshire (God's own county according to Alan Titchmarsh) we have had no rain at all. Of course, having said that we are bound to get a major downpour with flashfloods, lightning strikes, hurricanes and earthquakes any moment now.
BTW, if the border which is doomed to have a fleece and stones is next to the house, don't put down polythene - fleece allows water to drain away and polythene does not. Not draining the water next to the house causes rising damp. Make sure that the stones etc., are below the level of the damp-proof course - and do not ask me how I know this little factoid.
ETA: Went upstairs after posting that to find it is drizzling. Bleugh! But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?0 -
A lot of productivity going on here by everyone.
Can't believe the way different councils charge for services...compost is free at our tip..you just have to bring your own bags and fill them..they also have a section where you can buy things that are in working condition or are reuseable...we have a big green wheelie bin for garden waste..no soil or stones allowed,a big grey wheele bin for plastics/glass and a big brown bag for cardboard /paper all collected fortnightly...all included in CT.0 -

It must be catching
Yep! To the busyness and the catchingnessyou had a great day too :j I have to go into town at the end of today to the optician's, so I may take a bit of stuff to a charity shop.

Loving the drumrolls :j

Definitely :eek::eek: with that lot! As for Yorkshire being God's own county, well, I myself am a personification of the end of the Wars of the Rosesas my mum's family is from Lancashire and my dad's is from Yorkshire
:D:D so I'm cool with that

When you're right, you're right. I'm sure (pretty sure) its garden fleece .... but I'll check it before I put it down - lay it over a garden chair or something, and see that the water drains through, basicallythank you! And yes, part of the reason for digging out is not only to get rid of the soil to help the weed stoppage, but also to ensure that its all well below the damp course - plus a *little* bit below the ventilation bricks, which are perilously close to the surface level at the moment.
A lot of productivity going on here by everyone.
Woo hoo :j:j:j

I'd love a free wheelie bin for garden wastewe do have a free recycling collection - cardboard/paper/glass/plastics, but not garden waste, and thats what I need so badly. It costs £55 a year now.
I'm just finishing off my coffee :coffee: and will do today's list in a bit ... it really is all go here! I *still* don't have any paid work today, tho I have 3 hours tomorrow - and I realise that a lot of people would kill (erm, metaphorically speakingfor this level of spare time - so contrary to what I used to do 20 years ago, I'm not wasting it. Its also contrary to what I had to do last winter when I was so ill - I'm hoping that a positive balance between work and recreation, and the *results* of that work, will mean I don't get so sick this year. Which would be nice

Hmmm. Quite a boring list, so I'd better get on with it:
- scanning
- fill garden bag … x 2?
- wash hair
- bag soil x 2
- washing machine on
- tidy kitchen
- optician's appt, 6.30.
- use woodfiller downstairs.
and I must make sure I fill those garden bags, the space in the bin was very hard won!
Must let people know about the latest thing about my mum - she is amazing sometimes :j I was telling her about the mirror from Habitat, that I think might be too teenager-ish, and she said, and I'm quoting, "but you have to some funky stuff scattered around, don't you" .... she's where I get it from, its all her fault :rotfl::T:rotfl::T:rotfl::T2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
"Funky stuff" - brilliant :T
Really think there should be some sort of consistency about garden waste/ compost/ recycling - there should be a law!
