Hi both! Yep, I think I really needed it ...
Doing things I love - its really important, isn't it. I've let myself get sucked in, a little bit, to the whole thing of "if I can just get that done, it will be fine". I think of my house as being awful, often I do, but on Saturday, at that committee meeting, this quite high-flying woman in the local organisation had offered her house for use as a committee meeting, and I was shocked. Trying to think of the mix of problems it had - it was like a group of elderly students lived there :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: it was filthy dirty, it was *incredibly* cluttered - boxes everywhere, stuff everywhere, we had to sidle around, I felt claustrophobic - the stair carpet was worn through at the edges so it was a deathtrap, and, um, it smelt a bit.
I sound really judgemental, but its not that - she's welcome to live however she wants, after all, and she had a happy, chatty little boy, and a beautiful, aristocratic cat ....
What I'm *really* challenging is my own idea about my own house, that it has to live up to the levels of decoration in estate agents' windows, or the rest of my family. Of course it doesn't!
So. In comparison to that, *especially* in comparison to that but also *against* the stereotypes in my head, I live in a palace :j:j:j My house is warm, secure, (pretty) clean, only cluttered in about half the space, which is brilliant.
So, as I can start to feel sniffles, I'm off .... thanks for checking in :T2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

I RISE in the dawn, and I kneel and blow
Till the seed of the fire flicker and glow.
And then I must scrub, and bake, and sweep,
Till stars are beginning to blink and peep;
But the young lie long and dream in their bed
Of the matching of ribbons, the blue and the red,
And their day goes over in idleness,
And they sigh if the wind but lift up a tress.
While I must work, because I am old
And the seed of the fire gets feeble and cold.

A very sensible attitude to your home. I have often fallen prey to a similar home inferiority complex & mine certainly wouldn't be to lot of people's taste, but it's where we keep our stuff & sleep, & as you said it's safe, warm & dry & 'pretty' clean. Well, once a week anyway
Hope you're winning the battle against lurgy

Morning, hope you're less lurgified today (little bit lurgified here too
) Great realisation about the house.. we do it a lot, don't we.. compare ourselves against what we *think* other people do/ have.
