Love the idea of wintering in Spain KC. Would you be open to occasional visitors? Well done on getting the electricity reduced, it must be all that eco planning that is helping. The loft insulation, flooring, double glazing will all have helped I am sure.

Oh definitely, visitors are important! I just noticed that the Churriana apartment has *two* bedrooms, not one - plus a sofa bed in the lounge. For £340 a month :) I think we might have a mini-meet tbh (only one loo tho!).

EDIT - reality impinges - this wouldn't be for about five years. I can dream, tho!

Ah... no plans for it - my budget is kind of loose at the moment, not quite reflecting the reality of my outgoings, but cos I'm self employed with a declining income, I won't make extra plans to *spend*. Sorry, ghost of Hypno! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

How did I guess that Cheery would focus on the apartment too :T

Thing for me is, I'm trying on all these futures for possible fit - like when you find a new department store you really like, you wander round going, ooh, I wonder if that would fit ... thats where I am right now with lifestyle :j:j:j.

Its very liberating :D and it really makes you think about what you want :D:D:D

5 years also gives you the opportunity to find cheap ways of sampling such lifestyles. So who do you know who owns a boat that you could nab a weekend with or is there anyone who has a holiday apartment in Spain you could try?
One way of sampling things like this is soemthing along the line of home swaps for holidays. Homeaway is one site. I once looked at an apartment in my favourite place in Mexico, thought that there was no way that they would be interested in a house in Northern chemical town. Put a spin on it as being 12 miles from the centre of Liverpool, good motorway network, one hour to a beach and hey presto I got a holiday swap. Me mountains in Mexico - them smelly industrial town on a wet fortnght but they loved it.

Cheri, brill idea - the house isn't how I want it to be, but certainly will be very soon, no problem - it'd be fine to plan for that for summer 2012... oh! The Olympics! I could stay with my sister, and we could *rent* it out adn share the dosh!
