Mushrooms - but be sure to know what you are picking. I am signed up to a newsletter from somebody who lives in Rhayader. He runs courses too. As it is not far from me and I pass through there a couple of times a month I keep thinking I should do the course but it is very expensive Try having a look http://www.fungiforays.co.uk/ see if you can sign up to his free newsletter from there. Should be able to.

I thought about listing mushrooms, but decided not to - not only have I *not* done it myself, I wouldn't be *prepared* to do it, so didn't feel right about putting them on the list! Disclaimers ahoy!

My new method of making lists worked well yesterday - trying to be realistic about keeping the admin (and pleasure!) of my present day life going, plus taking steps to improve it all as well. Today is just a little bit of fiddling around with plaster filler, then off to the-big-town-on-the-Sussex-coast to buy some desperately needed summer weight trousers, and then popping in to my partner's house, as I'm going to his wife's birthday afternoon tea :) very, very civilised :)

I did think twice too KC but I am of the opinion that if I provide the information and any research links as necessary then it is up to the individual asking to decide. I often see mushrooms on my walk in the forest. I am too much of a scaredy cat to try them though. Although I have met several people picking them on lots of occasions and they are still walking and talking :) I still dont trust myself.

Sounds like a lovely day planned. How lovely High Teas and Holidays.

    Good Morning!

Afternoon tea - how posh - very jealous, sounds so very very English - lol

Thank-you both for the links! Have requested Food for Free from the library - the 1992 edition - goodness the original one is a old as i am ;) :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

OH is going to print the pdf at work on his fancy contraption - & says if they did their job right he can bind it too - it's frustrating having an OH who's a printer by trade! - I'm perfectly happy with any design imperfections :D

Mushrooms - hmmmmm - much as I'd love to take the plunge, am utterly scared stiff - my botanist friend (pippi reminds me of her!) did a mushroom course when we were at uni and used to bring home mushrooms which I was expected to cook :rotfl:despite the fact that the prof kept reminding her & the whole class that mushrooms were to be eaten at your own risk!!!

    I don't trust me either :o

It was great! I tried to find some summerweight jeans as cheap as possible, so went to Primark but they were useless. Popped into M&S to buy my contribution to the tea (gluten free chocolate and cherry cake :D:D:D) and they have cargo pants in there for £15. I might well buy loads to be delivered to my local M&S, and return the ones that don't fit ...

Actually, no! An English tea would have had little savoury sandwiches - my friend is German, tho, so it was solid cakes all the way :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I came home completely overloaded with sugar :o

Another link between us - my dad was a printer :j

Today, I'm not doing any paid work till 6pm - so my "main tasks" read:
    - research trading
    - do plasterwork (supposed to do this yesterday, but researched pay per click instead, so I'll have to do a double plasterwork dose today)
    - garden.

Its looking ominous out there, and it finally rained overnight, so we'll see. I also have to tidy the house in a *different* way today, and the double glazers are turning up tomorrow - I'll try to have as little in the affected rooms as possible.

Hope everyone is having a good day so far (oh dear - I've just realised its only 9.30 :o

Morning all! Oh I love foraging - there are loads of foraging websites out there but you can't beat a good guide book - I've got Food for Free (a recent pocket sized version) which is great for taking out with you. This - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Wild-Natural-History-Photographic-Guides/dp/0330280694 - is really indepth (if a bit er 'retro'!) but more of a reference for at home as it's a bigger book. The last couple of years we've picked tons of wild garlic, blackberries, raspberries, Jack-by-the-hedge/ garlic mustard, assorted wild herby type things, nettles, sweet chestnuts, cleavers, hawthorn leaves and berries, rowan berries, cow parsley, and my mum introduced us to eating ground elder, which I think tastes really nice (though you do have to be very careful with those last two particularly as they can look similar to some very nasty things!).

Morning! Yesterday was busy on here - my diary was on page 2!!! And today I'm late, but for a good reason - I have the double glazing people here. I was freaking before they arrived (of course!) because I realised I'd made the first payment on a debit card, not a credit card, but they're here, they know what they're doing, and all is well in my world. If very noisy :D

I went and bought them some milk for their tea, and also took the chance to buy some Jaffa cakes - even tho I had sugar poisoning on Sunday, needs must :D

I did pretty well with my main list yesterday, tho I completely ignored any subsidiary stuff. And this morning, I've been fiddling about with plasterwork....

Yep - its the front door and associated windows, plus the kitchen window. For security reasons, if they had any problems and were late finishing one lot, they'd do the other lot the next day - they don't leave it unfinished, not the reputable ones anyway. I checked that, actually :)
