Sounds like the house is really taking shape - I mean, you even have a pebble flippy-thingy plug! :D £15 seems like quite a lot for dry cleaning, although it's years since I've had anything done, so maybe it is that much

If i have to dry clean anything i use vouchers from tesco- which can be converted to Johnsons the cleaners- or i will use the dry clean machine in the local launderette- fraction of the cost and does the job equally as well. :)

Nine times out of ten though i will risk hand washing :)

KC - I can recommend a good local double-glazing company if you like, don't know about fly screens but they're good, cheapish (I had original style sash windows in) and friendly. Based in the town with the Wilko's in, next to the closed down Curry's :)

Dry cleaning in launderettes, of course! As Squizz says, its so long ..... thanks Bob!

KK, I didn't think to check with you :o thank you! I'm going to go with the quote I've got this time, the mid one, I liked them as well, but next time I have *anything* done, I'll check with you first! I should have known mse-ers would know best. The reason I want to get such a move on is that my front door doesn't shut very well - it got so bad when I went up to London for the family wedding, I had to leave by the back door, cos the front had to be kicked shut, and you can't do that from outside :o it really is a bit desperate. I'm worried that if I wait another week (coming round and quoting takes up that time) I might be in a really bad situation ....

Right, going to get tea ready so when I've done my evening work, I can just sit down to eat (working at 6.15 - this would have been a London day). Hope everyone has a good weekend!

£15?? I've never dry cleaned anything :o :rotfl: I just hang it up near a window (or outside) and hope for the best :D If it still smells, I might hand wash it, or shut my eyes and throw it in the washing machine...

(mind you, I'm a complete scruff, so you shouldn't take my advice) :D

Eeek to the front door, that reminds me of when I was a student in Manchester and our front door could be locked with all 4 locks on the inside but no problem it you forgot your key, you could just kick it open, stroll in, go straight past the set burgular alarm and only turn the alarm on by going into the kitchen at the end of the hall. Happy days.......we were never burgled but used to sit watching telly whilst TVs and video players got thrown over the fence followed by naughty people - why they didn't just run down the ginnel/twitten with their loot I'll never know, but it gave us some entertainment :):)

i Like the sound of fly screens, I love the summer but hate the flies and as were in the country its a constant problem. I get rid of them all and then a small person opens the door and hey presto theyre all back again!!! Not a prob just now as its gone wintery again.
Dry cleaning is such a rip off it puts me off buying some clothes as its so expensive. I'd be tempted to hand-wash and pray.;)

Now I know that you are green so the answer is probably NO, Do you have a tumble dryer? If so you can buy sheets in the supermarket and put your drycleaning into the tumble dryer with the said sheets. I used to use this method when I had a tumble dryer and then take it to the cleaners (the item not the dryer) every third time it needed doing. worked a treat.
Now (other than my uniform) I hand wash lots of things that say dry clean and like Cheery - close my eyes and wish

If you don't have a dryer, could you take it to the launderette with one of those sheets?? Or borrow a friend's dryer in exchange for a cake or something?? :D

I'm agreeing with the handwash & wish brigade - use ecover delicate fabric liquid & dont wring - put in washing machine on a gentle spin then hang up to dry ;)
