Was just about to post about Open Office, but Z beat me to it. If you keep the default in OO its .odt format ( or something) but you just save as .doc and it works fine. I use it all the time with work stuff, saves having to buy MSOffice and have it loaded on a few different machines. And the Excel and Powerpoint are sufficient for most people.

Cheri, I use it specifically because I can have it on a Windows PC, a mac PC and a linux netbook and swap files.

Sounds like youre having a busy time KC, I wont pretend to understand any of the puter stuff, its all I can do to post here:rotfl:
I hardly understand it myself, Turfy, don't worry! And thank you to all who posted - I'll work with saving the document into a doc format - sending an item to my partner was an experiment, but I can't very well tell prospective clients to download something from the web so that they can read what I'm sending them, thats not very user friendly.

You have to save your documents in Word format in order for Word to read it. This is because Word is "special"...

You can install a import filter into Word so it can read proper files, and make it a little less "special", but that may be beyond your partner.

    Agreed :D

I'll have a book I've read before on the go to read in some downtime, but the books I've got *properly* on the go are business books at the moment

Plus I watched Harry 7 last night :j and today I'm off to the town I used to live in - a nuts and bolts store that may have the fixings for the single bed in the office, which will be really helpful to get the frame up, getting my hair cut, getting a handmade wedding card, that sort of thing. Then off to my partner's to watch the football with him (I like watching it if I'm with somebody really enthusiastic, and he adores the footie :rotfl:) then eating takeaway :j

    Morning
hope you have a good day. Not sure about the football, as a neutral I don't care either way, but feel sorry for all those Manchester fans heading for Wembley, getting stuck in traffic because M1 shut.

I have a book on the go at the moment that I first read over 10 years ago, the first book in the Wheel of Time series - because I picked the final book up in the library and realised I'd forgotten what the original story was, after 11 books its sort of drifted away.

Ug yes, wouldn't it be awful to be there! He's a genuine Man U fan, he was born around there tho the family isn't English, so he's allowed to love them! I adored them in the days of Denis Law and Georgie Best :o

Wheel of Time sounds like it might be good, who's it by?

ETA - I did lots more admin later yesterday afternoon, got lots out of the way, but there's still a lot there - I wish I could say that its because I was so ill over winter, but truthfully, its not, its always like this - which is why I really love what Timmy boy says about batching -open 2 or 3 days post at once, and see to it immediately. Love it.

(evil smiley) to Man U fans getting stuck on the motorway! Ok I am a Liverpool supporter I am allowed to be evil to Man U fans ..... but only in so far as it is humorous banter.
