    Hun,
Sounds like you are doing all you can in a stressful time. It must be quite a strain for you. At least you can be flexible and spend that time with her which must ease the worry a bit.

Take care of yourself too. Here if you need to unload. xx

Fingers crossed that she can get started on the antipsychotics soon and settle down.

At least by having been on the MFW road you are in a better position than lots of other people, so you can slow down the moneysaving and have the mental space and resources to devote to your mum.

It isn't easy - but when you need to vent or need a hug we'll all be here.

On the food front - I put some stuff on Pammy's thread. Easy and quick recipes I recommend include:

1 - put 3 or 4 new potatoes (per person) in a pan of cold water
    2 - boil for 20 mins
3 - about 10 mins before the potatoes are ready, heat up the grill. Put some fresh cherry tomatoes or quartered big tomatoes under the grill and grill them until they collapse and get a bit charred
4 - add some asparagus and sliced halloumi cheese to the grill for around 5 min, turning occasionally (green beans - lightly boiled - make a nice swap for asparagus)
5 - drain potatoes and tip the grill pan contents on top of them (in bowls:D). You can add a swirl of olive oil or I add some balsamic vinegar

Nice served with salad. Potatoes can be swapped for pasta, asparagus could swap for courgette or other veg and halloumi could swap for cold feta placed on the cooked food.
Debt at highest: £8k. Debt Free 31/12/2009. Original MFD May 2036, MF Dec 2018.

For quick recipes I recommend a trip to the library to check out books for ideas. For simple and quick veggie meals (my suggestion was an adaptation from here) I recommend Rose Elliott's fast fresh and fabulous, which was re-released as the Low Gi veggie cookbook http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/0563539216?ie=UTF8&!!!!!rosell-21&linkCode=as2&camp=1634&creative=6738&creativeASIN=0563539216. I also love Anthony Worral Thompson - great HM bread and some fab recipes but also some fiddly ones.

  • I have spent an eventful and fruitful day shopping in Tesco for the £10 meal deals for £4.07 (my fridge, freezer and wine rack are all now full!) Got my first two Tesco vouchers this am so took them in and bought the same deals but with £11.86 off, am very pleased as I never got my head around the double to difference offer.

Then did two mystery shops, returned home, wrote them up, took the dog for a walk and 'prepared dinner'....i.e. open up the scrummy packets..tonight was Angus meat balls, cheesy mash, carrots (I had to peel and cut these myself:eek:) and two large glasses of water. I resisted the puddings and wine tonight despite having copious amounts of both!

    Yes i'm here!

Have been busy malipulating Tesco receipts to get copious amounts of wine and food for very little money:D

I have done many a strange thing to earn extra money but todays 'job' takes the biscuit:eek:

I had to, (for a mystery shop) enter a test, sneak in a calculator, try to get caught, if not I had to fail the test anyway. Calculator snuck in, used it willy nilly for 16 minutes befor being being 'caught' and asked to leave the test centre:rotfl::eek::o When the examiner finally saw me, he put his hand on my shoulder and asked me to leave......I was very embaressed and felt like I had really 'cheated'! I felt like I had disappointed him:rotfl:

Fridge and freezer are growning with food, wine rack is overflowing big time. Must get back to normal shopping, but thats so borring! For tose of you who don't know what i'm talking about nip on over to the 'Grab it Now' board and look for the Tesco £10 meal deal for £4.06 (or is it £4.07 I forget:rotfl::D)

So sorry to hear about your Mum TPA Hug_emoticon___v2.gif She does sound like such a lovely lady, hope she's doing okay.

That meal deal loophole sounds crazy! No room in our tiny freezer to join in, OH decided the space was best used for freezing spring rolls and sausage rolls this week shrug.gif

And what a weird MS!! I don't think I could have done that one, I don't like breaking the rules even in the slightest :o
