When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free :money:

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important. :D

Morning All,

I hope you don’t mind me starting the thread today – everybody must still be in bed nursing hangovers!

HAPPY NEW YEAR – looking forward to all that comes this year!

Hugs to everyone who needs them and I hope everybody is having a relaxing Saturday.

Today I have/will:
• Checked online banking – one dd has gone out so will mark it off on my spreadsheet
• Meals from stores
• Read papers online
• Enter shed loads of comps online
• Fill in my WW food diary – yet another spreadsheet
• Need to drink 2l of water
• Watch things on the sky box (instead of going out)
• Need to spend about an hour planning what I want for the year ahead
• Need to read the thread from yesterday
• Don’t think that we are doing anything so should have a NSD
• Need to print off the hobnobs recipe for FIL and MIL as they have just discovered cooking (was force fed sponge cake and mince pies – got away with one slice of cake and one mince pie though)

Candy xxxx
Debts at the start of my journey - about £23,000 lightbulb moment 01.03.2007 (1st payment to CCCS)..Debt Free Date 25.06.2013 Deposit savings £17,000/£30,000

No alcohol in house = no hangover :) at 10pm I was fancying Baileys but decided shop would be shut. Had a lovely evening watching Worlds Most Extreme Airports. I am sure I'm a nerd really :) Happy New Year everyone.

    Today's plan:
    1. Breakfast in bed :) already fed cat
    2. I've joined the January NSD challenge so avoid the shops
    3. Make a list of groceries I will need later in the week making sure I include stuff for packed lunches at work. Plan some meals.
    4. Make pizza for lunch (tomato puree and grated cheese with toppings on a naan bread is lovely. I always have naan bread in the freezer just in case)
    5. Maybe do some housework- put a wash on
    6. Check accounts
    7. Surveys and comps
    8. Read (plan to read old books and not buy new)
    9. I'm playing Lara Croft that cane with the PS3 and never played much till now (plan to play old games and not buy new)
    10. Catch up with recorded TV
    11. Entertain the cat
    12. Read this forum for 2011 ideas and inspiration.

I think this year is going to be a good one. I'm so glad I had my LBM and came back to this forum.

I wasn't nursing a hangover either....just really tired from my wacky days Wednesday and Thursday...
    glitter_xmas_calendar17.php

So what's everyone doing? Despite a shower and all the coffees known to woman (including one cappuccino with really expensive coffee :)) I find myself still in zombie mode....

I'm like you DNMS. I've learnt the hard way not to set myself too many tasks and just do what's necessary...I also need PJ days from time to time...:j

Anyhow enough waffle - today's agenda
    • Blitz house and ?outside hall? with new hoover (on full blast)
    • Make new year parcels and give to neighbours (remember chap below me from training scheme and No.1)
    • Menu plan (should have been done days ago ) and make yoghurt

Maybe get out for a wee bike ride upto the veg garden this pm for some air or something? Don't know.... According to my 'weather guy' we're over the worst of the snow but we could still have the odd cold day

Roll on summer and gardening :)

  • Happy New Year:j

Well have tidied up after last nights New Year party. Think everyone had a good time:D I did:p. Not hung over at all only had a couple of gin and bitter lemons.

Fireworks and some of the chinese lantern things. Think everyone else had the same idea as the sky was full of them, lanterns not fireworks!!!

Was walking the dogs at half past one this morning, as they had been hiding in bedrooms..... too many people. Walked my friend home, was quite nice really quiet with a couple of stray lanterns (Netto had them on sale for £1 each)

This morning I have checked online banking
Will be a quick shower for me
Then some New Year clearing out, starting with my bedroom drawer.

Have a good day everyone :D
My finances are work in progress.
    Normal veiwing will resume shortly

It is pretty good! We love Cluedo and SIL wanted it but said to get her the Harry Potter one to have a bit of a twist!

It's really fun. Same principle obviously just with a few extras that change the game slightly! We have played it twice now, OH won the first time and i won last night. Each time we won though we were both playing as Harry Potter - typical! He gets all the glory! :D

Morning all  Oh sorry was I a little loud?:shhh: Yes I'm feeling the effects of last night. Had a lovely night at a nye ball in Camden. Didn't have to drive so made full use of the alcohol on offer.:naughty: So now in dire need of a :coffee:

To make matters worse, I've just checked my banking and I thought I'd somehow forgotten to enter one of my mortgages in my ms money and that I was £318 worse of than I thought. _pale_ Thankfully though I'd forgotten that I'd balanced it yesterday before I went to get my hair cut. So false alarm.

I've not managed to get on for the past few days but I've managed to clear all my holiday to dos so I'm pleased about that.

    Anyhow, my plans for today
    • Check banking done
    • Have a nsd done
    • Food from the store cupboard done
    • Read (was given the new Stephen Fry for Xmas) done
    • Catch up on recorded TV and a DVD that needs to be returned done
    • Take down the decorations done
    • Start marking that year 12 work that I've conveniently ignored since the start of the holidays.
still not done, had a sleep instead.
I'll update this as the day goes on. Have a great one all
