PS. To make the OD sweeter....even on my easy cig reduction of 2-3 roll ups an hour I've managed to make my pouch of tobacco last an extra day :j and I've only been reducing since Sat..yay..this year Erme is going to eventually ditch the cancer sticks. In her own way and in her own time :)

Good luck with cutting down Erme, it sounds like your off to a good start!

I finished my packet of smokes today and have decided I might just see how long I can go without buying anymore... I have managed 8 hours so far :D

Was also inspired to do it by DH almost choking with laughter saying 'You'll never do it...' when I mentioned it. The worst thing anyone can say to me is 'you can't ...' :rotfl:

Hey everyone, I haven't been padding for a while!

I did however PAD £60to Hfax the other day so I could close the card down completely and get rid of the pesky thing

So just called to shut it down and have that money winging its way back to me in the next few days as I'd overpaid incase they charged me some more interest, however when having to give my reasons for closing it (applying for a mortgage soon so wanted less available credit) she started spouting about how having available credit on a card is not a bad thing in terms of mortgage applications, and that it would look better than a loan.

Now I am worried - I do have a loan at a high interest rate of 24% over 3 years, and am wondering whether I should have transferred the balance to a number of empty credit cards on 0% When I went to the mortgage advisor before, they only took into account 12 monthly loan payments and deducted it from my yearly salary. Apologies I know this isn't the place for questions like this, just wondered if any of you guys had an opinion? :heart2:

    24%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

k30lly, I'm no expert be that is an astronomical interest rate and if I had the option to transfer to 0% I'd rip their hand off! Weigh up the pros & cons, what you can afford to repay each month, how long the 0% lasts for, transfer fees etc. GL!

I know! Ashamed to say I didn't really work out my calculations at the beginning, and I should have done :o

I don't want to mess about transferring balances, or paying this off with a cheaper rate loan right now, until I know how much mortgage payments are going to be and how much I'll have left over each month. But then like you say need to weigh up pros and cons between a cheaper loan, or a number of 0% cards. Thanks for taking the time to give me your opinion dizzy :heart2:

PS - i nearly fainted when I calculated what I have paid in the last year in interest!
