Hope it works out for the best, twinklie, whether that's your DH proudly completing his PhD or chucking it and living full time with you while doing a job he really loves.

Right well, DH has been stalling on going back quite a lot and will find any excuse not too! He's also not handed in assignments that he should have done...MONTHS ago. However, it looks to me like they are trying to put everything in place to help him pass. He's not viewing it that way...but we shall see. He seems to have pulled his finger out of his bottom today anyway which is promising. Fingers crossed.

Part of the problem is us living apart and the loss of his grandma etc. But honestly I believe a major factor is the weird hours he keeps (partially due to DJing). I wish I could tell him not to DJ, but he likes doing it AND we need the money. It's odd, it would be easier for us to see each other if we did end up getting that house...cheaper, less time to get between each house etc.

But then the move/sale etc would be quite stressful. Hmmm....who knows.

It's difficult. I really want to be cross with him...but I know he's working really hard and trying his best so I can't. Really hope things work out for him. He'll be gutted if it doesn't.

Could your DH reduce his DJing just until he gets his assignments up together? It is one of those things that he'll regret not doing later in life.

My OH was a year late handing in his HND (i think that was it) final assesment but the college were very supportive and even took the p**s out of him for being so lazy.

I guess all you can be is supportive and try not to nag

I'm not nagging...I'm staying out of it to a degree because there is nothing I can do. He seems to be stepping his game up though which is awesome. Problem with taking a break from the DJing, he's a resident one, so if he wanted a break he'd have to quit. If he doesn't do it we can't afford the travel costs to see each other. So the only time we'd see each other is school holidays!!! Or we'd have to eat our way through our savings.

Oddly if we moved it wouldn't make such an impact on our finances if he lost the DJing. He seems to have taken on board what they said and is the most into it and positive I've heard him in ages today! Madnesss. LOL

i made a significant decision today--i transfered 15 k of my savings to where i live in turkey. the interest rates are higher for savings but it detaches me from the mortgage where my money is loaned--i have worked out over the past 12 months i have increased my tangible assets by 23000 and bites into my 55314 mortgage--thats without the increase in my business value where i live-it has rougly doubled since last year--the 15k is aimed at my business partner who is seriously in debt and i want to buy the rest of the business off-for a song!
    mfw'11 No68- 55k mortgage İO--little to nothing saved! i must do better.
