I STILL want to be mortgage free - 2011!

Right so it turns out 60 kids opted for Psychology  So I've asked if I can bin off 10 of the little darlings. Only because a class of 25 is slightly more managable. And also, I might have to have another teacher for the other class from not only out of the department but also from another school! This would essentially mean I'm flying solo I imagine. I think this is going to be a tough 12 months.
I've been a busy bee the last two days though. All work and no play but I feel like I'm winning the silly workload battle. Need to get myself sorted for next week and the first week back after halfterm now because I start exam marking on Monday! Estate agents just called to confirm viewing for the morning which is exciting (and depressing...lol). I taught my last full day of the year today, because my year 11's that I have a double lesson with on a Friday leave on Thursday. AND I should see the same class on Monday but they have an exam. GET IN! So only 2 hours left with the other class - exciting stuff.
Anyway, I've secured my bid request for Psychology so I can buy some teacher resources and some books for next year - yey. I just wish I'd have asked for more stuff now. LOL.
My ITT student emailed me last night about the lesson she was teaching with 2 groups today (for one of the other teachers) - she didn't know what to do, hadn't planned it and wanted to steal my resources. I didn't email her back (didn't get it until this morning) and she was off today. Nobody has taught it before anyway because it's a brand knew syllabus so I couldn't have given her anything past telling her what I'd do - basically was the same information as she already has.
Last time she didn't know what she was teaching she pulled a sicky as well. Hmmmm....I can't wait for this woman to leave. I can't take much more. LOL.
Exam marking starts on Monday so I expect it might all go quiet on here. BOO!Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

Went to view the house. It seemed really lovely. It's a house you could just move into as is. There are bits and pieces that need changing but nothing too dramatic aside from the boiler and some of the electrics. So we reckon we could knock the price down a bit.
DH seems well up for it now, more so than before. He absolutely LOVED it. I'm bit disappointed about not getting the amazing view I'd hoped for...but you do get it out of the bedroom windows if you stand and look out of them. Still, we need to sit down now and talk over what we want to do about things. DH is very much pro moving now though I reckon. :jReduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

Oh believe me I'm trying. I have to go through the professional mentor though who is on the war path with the uni. They make it so hard to give anyone a cause for concern. It's a bloody nightmare.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

Right I'm sitting down with DH later to write a list of things I need to say to the estate agent when they call on Monday. So any suggestions?
We have the EPC and we know they have moved out - no chain etc. Boiler needs replacing and there are finishing touches to be done in various rooms (mainly the 2 bathrooms - just edging, and fence panels in the garden).
I am going to ask them what fixtures/fittings/furniture is being left etc. But I'm trying to think of anything else I should ask. I know there is more. Is it worth asking, why have they moved? How many viewings have their been? How many offers etc? It's on for offers over £149'950 and I suspect its not going to get much attention because it's in a very small village on the tops of the hills, quite out of the way (nightmare during snow weeks in winter). It is however perfectly located for us...and we don't mind the snow issues. It's already been reduced from £159'950 (it went on for that in December and was reduced 10th May).
If we could get it down to £145K we'd be much more likely to be able to buy it. However, I guess it does depend what we get for ours really. Thinking of getting a valuation from one of the estate agents next week and asking them what they'd market it for now...and what they might market it for if we did some work on it. The other thing we are contemplating doing is getting a storage unit and just chucking loads of our junk in one. It's not junk necessarily, it's stuff we need and want but don't have room for (like DH's records and DJ stuff). He does it all via computer now and his fancy system he's bought. However, we still need it in case he does any other gigs where they don't have the facilities to DJ in that manor.
I'm going to wait and see what happens at school promotion wise. But am thinking of offering my services as a tutor of science - based at school (I think the boss would let me). What do people think? I'm also a bit unsure of price. Hmmmm....Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

Oooo exciting about the viewing!
Not sure about other questions to ask really ...sure someone will have some suggestions tho!
tutoring sounds like a good idea not sure on the price maybe some of the other teachers can give some advice.... otherwise is there a way of working out your hourly rate for your job at the mo and figuring into how many hours work itd take ?
keep us posted- house in the hills sounds lush! wish I could get a house down here for 145k - they are about double that! :rotfl: ah well one day0 -
Yeah it's cheaper to live up here but wages are also less. We also have the awful weather to contend with - living in the wettest part of the UK. LOL. Still, our weather is better than the highlands of scotland I guess. Ha ha.
I was thinking of offering £25 per hour or £20 per hour if they book and pay for a set number of hours in advance (say 5 or 6). I don't really know to be honest just something I was considering. If it's not a one to one service then I could technically do it for small groups rather than just one child at a time unlike the one to one tuition I'm currently giving. That potentially could give me more money. Although if I did that I'd want to group kids into KS3/KS4 groups. Or it just isn't going to work. Realistically I don't even know if anybody would want a Science tutor. I know a few parents have asked though.
