    So, back to frugality ;)

Not so much to report in terms of being a good frunchkin today. I met a friend for lunch, which was over £6 and also bought some cupcakes from a posh bakery in town and they weren't cheap either :o Still, a rare treat so I'm not going to beat myself up about it.

Tomorrow it's back to being a Frugal Fresian with home-made lunches and so forth. I have a friend coming round tomorrow night for dinner so will be making something cheap and cheerful. I would normally make chilli in the slow cooker but have been really tired so don't think I will have the energy to get up early enough for that.

Main frugal activity of today has been cardmaking for an order I have with a friend who has a shop. I have made five, although only one has been blogged. It's on my homepage if you fancy a look.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their night - I'm off to finish watching Being Human :)

What a brilliant image! Hopefully Mr Lizzie is fully recovered now ;)

:) Bless him. It was a couple of years ago now. Of course he'd already been under the knife the first time round with his first wife, when he had his first two sons, who lived with us from being toddlers. Then he had it reversed, and then together we had our own three children, then a couple of years ago that's when he had 'it' done again, for the final time!!!!!
Blimey he's a glutton for punishment. We were very lucky though that the reversal worked. (I'm sure he'd be mortified if he knew what I was saying on here about him) :rotfl:
Needless to say our house has always been a noisy but happy one :)

I would certainly not find Ceridwen's comments in any way offensive, and I hope Diddly doesn't.

Your cards are adorable. I love the one you made for hubby when he had flu :)
I've bought quite a lot of scrapbooking things to make DD an album for her 21st but I just can't seem to get started on it. Need to get the suitcase out that full of photos first. Maybe that's why :)

I can't decide if it should go in the month it was delivered (and therefore started to be used), or when it was paid for, which is what actually affects the budget. What's everyone else doing?
If I make a payment using a card, then I log it on the date I use my card rather than the date it goes out of the bank as that's when I've authorised the payment.

If I were to buy something on HP (only ever done when on 0% finance these days), then I'd log the monthly payments (rather than a one-off amount when I sign the paperwork) as it's the regular payments I'd be authorising.

If I bought something on 'buy now pay later' (which sounds the closest thing to your oil situation), then I'd log it for the date I have to make the payment rather than the order or delivery dates.

. :TSometimes I'm not even sure I live at this one...I wrote that because of a woman in the next road who walks by looking like this  because my garden isn't tidy. She makes me laugh - I mean, how would she react if I'd really done something AWFUL? I'm generally law-abiding and social-minded but there are limits to how much gardening you can manage when you're a single person with multiple jobs and an allotment, no help, very little time, whereas Mrs Garden Police goes up and down with her OH trotting alongside, carrying her shopping for her in case she strains herself. :rotfl:

I totally know what you mean. I don't have a front garden but I have the only drive on our one way (very narrow) street (The neighbours are green with envy and everyone is my "best friend" when I'm on holiday so they can use my drive.) However, it is a bit of a trap for all of the rubbish that blows off the street and sometimes it really does look like a tip and I laugh watching people pass looking at all the rubbish that I just haven't had the time to move. :rotfl:

I remember my mum (who is a very keen and brilliant gardener) once was in the middle of digging up a garden in a house we had moved into and somebody had reported her to the council for having an untidy garden and to get it sorted. She was absolutely furious as the next door neighbour had all sorts of Sh**e in their garden like old washers etc. She was so cross, it still makes me laugh to think of her furiously digging away to make it right. :rotfl:

A pretty low spend day for me. I bought some cat litter for my son's cat. My daughter is staying at his flat and he has left her with no money and no food, except for some pesto so last night I popped down there with some pasta and cheese as she was too tired to come home and although my son says there's cat litter in the boiler cupboard she can't find it! He's not usually such a meanie! I also bought her a banana (my daughter not the cat) as she left with me to go to the gym but didn't feel too great so she went back again. I also gave her money to buy some soup.

Could you turn the primark dress into something else? Maybe turn it into a skirt or a top? I often buy something in the charity shop just because I like the fabric then cut it up and sew it into something else. My brother has just given me a whole load of XL sized t.shirts that he doesn't want any more. I'm going to cut them up and make them into long sleeved tops for my boys.

I'm afraid I'm not a sewer! It took me about two years to make a skirt at school even with someone finishing it off for me!
I really which I could though and sometimes toy with the idea of getting a sewing machine but I'm not sure if I'd still hate it or not.

  • rubytuesday could you put the dress on ebay? Primark stuff seems to sell really well. I'm the same regarding a sewing machine. Had one a while ago but hardly ever used it, so decided to sell it. Now I've got into my crafts again I'm toying with the idea of buying another. But I could never get the hang of putting the spool in. Went to have a look at the £50 ones in John Lewis, they are lovely, but was told they are only for very light craft work, like applique etc. so if I decided to do a quilt it wouldn't be any good, and I'd be better with a front loading spool which is apparently easier to load.
Hence me still not being sure whether or not to get another...it all seems too confusing 297.gif
