:wave:Hi, I hope everyone is well
lilyglass, I also find the best way to store potatoes etc is in a paper sack in the garage. This winter I used mostly paper sacks but also a couple of hessian ones. The potatoes in the hessian sacks did not fare very well with the very cold weather whereas the ones in the paper sacks were fine.
I'll use paper sacks all the time in the future. - If you have a local chippie ask them for some sacks. I get mine from there and they are only too pleased to part with then as it helps them too.
I've had NSD's on Fri, Sat & Sun but needed to get 2 prescriptions today:eek:. I'm going to get a prepaid card as I need to have regular medication so even though that will have to be paid for at least I should get todays cost back.
We had roast chicken from the freezer for dinner last night so today I've made a chicken & ham pie and soup for the freezer and a chicken curry for dinner tonight.

Good afternoon All
Lovely bit of bartering today that I thought I'd shareFriend texted to see if I was in prior to popping round for his usual bucket of tea. Needed milk so asked him to pick up some on his way round and sent him off an hour later with 6 fresh eggs from the girls in payment. NSD intact and a great feeling to boot ~ so should do it more often

Hallo - my name is Sandra, and I'm finding this so hard
You see, I can't stop touching, my lovely credit card
I try to make a shopping list, of all the things I've planned
But suddenly, I'm shocked to find that card is in my hand
I use it on such silly things that I don't really need
I searched for a solution, on this plan I had agreed :T
I placed it in some water, because I had assumed
I'd put it in the freezer, then in ice it was entombed
I thought that this would help me, I felt so hip and cool
But then they switched the leccy off, and it melted in a pool!
I'm old and quite forgetful, and get in such a state
And yet I find my credit card is easy to locate!
So frugalistas, help me! My addiction I have fought
But I cannot beat it on my own, I need the group's support :A
I know that you won't judge me, of that I have no fear
Here's hoping I'll do better, and I'll beat The Card this year!

Hi Guys,

Just thought I would share this, just been to Mr T to do the weekly shop and ALL pet food is on 3 for 2 offer - yes that's right ALL pet food, including tins, bagged up food etc. We used dry dog food so I bought 6 months worth and got 5p of a litre of fuel.............every little helps.:jNSD 12, SAVING ALL MY CHANGE FOR HOLIDAY SPENDS - SO FAR £23.96:j0 -
Here's my attempt...would love to see others have a go
Hello my name is dizzy
by name and nature too
I wish I could stop spending
I just don't know what to do
I'm pulled into the shops by an invisible tractor beam
Were I spend all of my money
then go home and scream.
I really just can't help it
I've tried and tried and tried
I've even got books on thrift
stacked by my bedside (oh the irony)
And then by chance I came across
A thread on MSE
And there I had my moment, my epiphany
Twas a revelation, an opening of my mind
And now when I hear 'What's for tea'?
I reply, 'Go seek and ye shall find'
For in the cupboard known as 'store'
there's fruit and beans and food galore!
No need to shop, Yes there's food for tea
The shops are losing their grip on me.
And when I feel that little urge
The one that ends in a bl**dy big splurge
I calmly sit and count to ten
I'm not 'buying' into that life again!
Love dizzy x

I am loving the rhymes or should I say confessions?
I have spend nearly £10 on some paint to paint an old unit up for my new bathroom storage, also bought 10 kgs of caster sugar and some whoopsied nappies (the pack has split and been sellotaped, DS2 still weras them at night) from our local cash and carry, they had loads of reduced stuff, although I'm not sure they should be selling choc bars that went out of date on 10/10?
So bit of a spendy day today and I'm off to my first yoga class in a bit, £25 to pay tonight, it's my little treat to myself. Hoping for NSD tomorrow and hopefully most days this week!
I won't try and write a rhyme because it will be rubbish!Mum to 2 DSs, dog mum, wife full-time worker.

Still no internet at home. The engineer cancelled and is coming tomorrow now! I'm in the library and the internet is running rally really slowly today. However I'm quite excited as I ordered The Complete Tightwad Gazette and it was there waiting for me. It's a really hefty tome! Here dead we lie because we did not choose
To live and shame the land from which we sprung.
Life, to be sure, is nothing much to lose,
But young men think it is,
And we were young.

My Name is Donna, and I can’t stop spending money.
I think we should also have a Frugalista's "prayer" like AA and the other 12 step programmes do! Something like:
by Joseph Wardy
Saving money...
And build financial security.
Saving time...
And be efficiency conscious.
Saving words...
And practice kindness.
Saving the soul,
And focus spiritually.
Calling the poets amongst us – anyone got any ideas for an original “prayer”???SandraScarlett wrote: »Hallo - my name is Sandra, and I'm finding this so hard

OMG these are brilliant! Thanks everyone, I've been sitting here chuckling away which is just what I needed after the day I've had. (Might give it a try later on).
Itsallinthemind - poor you, hugs and as they say "things can only get better".
Mogan - thanks for that - will avoid hessian sacks! (Great idea about the chippy, not one here but will try the town a few miles away the next time I'm over there).
Now, more importantly..... (shuffling of the feet, nervously clearing throat)
