mr M. has triple velvet 9 rolls half price at £2.29 - you can only buy 3 per visit. But works out 25.4p a roll!

but in the same visit - whoopsied chicken two packets £1.49 a pack - but they have massive stickers on them that says two packs for £3 anyway when its fresh!!!!!!!!! you have to be so careful!!!

dont forget you can also print a 50p off coupon from the velvet site,so this would bring them down to £1.79:eek:bargain

  • You could maybe try making survival kits for them:

this one is for a 30th birthday

and this engagement one can be adapted perhaps for the hen do?

I got my soon to be SIL on of these memory boxes for her hen do:

oooo loving these thankyou! Survival kits are going to be my present theme this Christmas I think, they are so individual to the person and although they don't cost the earth they certainly look like they do!

    Cheers m'dears :D

    Evening fellow frugallers
A couple of money related puns that found their way into my inbox over the weekend
You feel stuck with your debt if you can't budge it.

A lot of money is tainted - Taint yours and taint mine.
Thanks for the link to the zen site..I've recently read a book on simple pleasures [from the library] written by various bodies in the public eye. A suggestion by Lucinda Lambton particularly stood out for me...she suggests looking up whilst you walk along as you might see all sorts of treasures higher up on buildings. The fellow on my Avator is high up on our local church and I only discovered him at Christmas...only lived in the town since I was 10!
    Enough of my waffle!

have you heard about The Zeitgeist Movement-The Venus Project founded by Peter Joseph. Link here
Very interesting to say the least. They have a 3rd movie out another link here for the trailer which is well worth watching especially when the professors are interviewed about nature nurture, culture etc.
Hope it interests you if you have a peep at it.

I have written another poem and it's an ode to all of us on this thread and I've given it a title...:D

    Here goes...

    'Albeit in Cyberspace'

    I've met a bunch of people cancan.gif
    Albeit in Cyberspace
    But that really doesn't matter
'Cos they bring a smile to my face 4chsmu1.gif
No matter what the problem is
    Whether it's big or small
Their cyber arms are all outstretched
To catch us if we fall 999.gif
And when we're sad and having a groan
When all we can do is sit and moan 2mo5pow.gif
    There's always support
    And a friendly word
Never a post goes unheard icare.gif

    We'll show you how 18.gif
Make a brew and come and see :coffee:
How fun getting debt free can be
It really is a friendly place
Albeit that we're in Cyberspace computer3.gif

    Aw thank you :)
That's lovely that you all still get together. I think true friends are the ones were you don't have to see each other all the time, but when you do, even if it's months down the line, you can just pick up were you left off as if it was yesterday. I wonder if we had a meet up whether we'd look completely different to how we think each other may look?

    Quick hello before bed,

Loved the Zen site was it dizzy that posted it, anyways I've found Flylady fantastic for helping to declutter and keep tidy. I have to say I really didn't know how to keep tidy (honest!!) and my house was always a tip till I found Flylady. It's not sparkling now by any means but lots better than it used to be... It's american so can be a bit sugary at times but it's quite straightforward with daily tasks (only 15 minute bites) I think the web address is https://www.flylady.net

Had to get the plumber out again today as toilet blocked again. Tried (in desperation) the giant cotton bud method as described earlier, but didn't work ( think I was too much of a wimp to put in the required effort) anyway he thinks that the outside soil pipe needs adjusting (there's a long run from the toilet to the down pipe with no incline and it has to turn a corner too - bet you're fascinated by that aren't you? ) so going to have to get that done :(

Took the cake back to Sainsbugs - much to DS disgust, he thought we should have it after tea tonight - and got a refund. Managed to get 8 pints of milk, a pack of Brie, 2 bags of flour and a cheescake (peace offering for DS who has now decided he doesn't like cheesecake, bloomin kids!!) for same price!! So worth the effort! Made a cheese pie for tea, an adaptation of Hairy Bikers recipe but neither DS or DD liked it and left theirs - I'm going off kids at the moment!! They complained that I shouldn't improvise, cos they never like any of my efforts, don't know why I bother! Anyway I kept their rejects and put em in the freezer - a couple of lunches for me sorted!
Have got a mystery shop tomorrow at a pub so taking them out for tea, they better not complain about anything! I'm thinking that maybe I should get them making tea for a change!

Paid for DD3s travelling and accommodation for her auditions. Did some fiddling about with breaking up the train journey to get it cheaper and managed to get 5 journeys and 2 nights in a Youth Hostel for about £10 more than the first price we found for one journey, couldn't believe it!! Just got an offer through on my cc for 0% on purchases until July statement so that was a relief, just put it all on that and should easily get it paid back by July.

Got a letter from EON to say that my fixed price deal is ending and they're putting me onto the standard rate. Decided to have a look around for a better deal and found a good deal with Scottish Power and have switched to them via quidco so earned £62 as well as cheaper gas/electric. Win - Yay!!

Ok need to go to bed.

    See you all soon.

    Night night x

Hi Jayne, yes 'twas me. It's very good isn't it. I like flylady too. I used to subscribe many years ago but was getting goodness knows how many emails a day. I didn't have time to read them all and clean!(hee hee my excuse) I bought the book 'sink reflections' and still dip into it. (the book not the sink) ;) Have a nice tea tomorrow :)
I must get to bed myself. Dropped DD and her friend at weightwatchers and waited for her. She was only in about 15 minutes and I still managed to nod off in the car.
So night night and sweet dreams to anyone still up.

  • Ive been thinking I joined this thread because I enjoy financial challenges......as if you didn't know...... but I'm being entertained by these wonderful poets who really make me laugh, well done to you all carry on with the good work and often please.
The other day I was saying how I wanted to get started on my car boot preparations but it was a bit too early, anyway I went ahead and baked some biscuits which I shall endeavor not to give away by sealing the edge of the airtight plastic containers and freezing them. This way they will stay fresh and the lids wont come off unexpectedly and my biscuits all end up at the bottom of my chest freezer.

I shall be spending money tomorrow, yes folks real money, how will I cope with it, the fear of it will probably keep me awake. Oh dear, better go and lie down now before it gets too much.:rotfl:
    Keep to £400 a month on C/C.
