yes, when I tried making a casserole in a slow cooker back in the late 80's
I've never risked trying it again since.....

I wonder why that is then? I even pot it on the hob in the end but they were still pretty hard! A tasty meal though even so!

I sometimes find this too, especially if i add it to cottage pies etc, have you tried adding some extra liquid to the caserole so when cooking the liquid is less thick? carrots need to absorb lots of water to soften. can always thicken up the sauce when the carrots are cooked.

The dish was chicken cooked in white wine (cook with it more than I drink it honest, don't panic only two quid!:rotfl:)with celeriac, leeks, carrots and parsley (and the chicory I thought was needed but wasn't.)

It seems like at times we on this forum are suffering from collective paranoia, I don't think anybody ever intends hurting anyone else nor do we intend getting at each and perhaps we should all try not be so thin skinned and shrug things off abit more. Its well known that texting is the best way to loose friends and it seems like this is whats going on right now here so lets remember we all choose to use this forum, nobody forced us, to offer help and alternative ways of achieving a frugal lifestyle in order to live within our separate bugets and not to build up debts and we all do it our own different ways and all are valid useful ways. Also some people ask for and need more advise/ support/help than others and thats OK also. So lets get on with it now! :D I'm not getting at or pointing my finger at anyone in particular its just an undercurrent I can detect today which feels uncomfortable and it seems like I'm not alone in this.
    Keep to £400 a month on C/C.

Can anyone tell my why shops sell "pony carrots" whats wrong with the veg??? Our local shop had a full bag of carrots labelled up as so and priced at £2.50.

Well done on your race Cheryl, fantastic!

I cannot believe how fast this month has gone, I think the older you get the faster time goes.

I NEED to be more organsied thought I had bought all my supplies then find the coffee is nearly gone. I have to go and post some ebay parcels so will buy some more at the local shop where it will be more expensive but cheaper than me driving 6 miles into town when I don't need anything else.

Hope everyone is ok today. I am going to do a load of baking now, my DS1 has 2 friends coming to play after school so I will have 3 four year olds and DS2 who's 3 so I think I might need buns!!!

So apart from coffee I won't be spending any more money so it will be a LSD today.

I need to make some more cakes too. The ones from Saturday don't seem to have lasted.... We walked to school this morning again, so I still haven't had to put any more petrol in the car. I am also 2.5lbs lighter than I was last Monday. I am liking this challenge a lot.
