Now what to cobble together for 'Home Alone Friday dinner'! And put the heating back on and put the stuff back in the cupboard tidily!
Here dead we lie because we did not choose
To live and shame the land from which we sprung.
Life, to be sure, is nothing much to lose,
But young men think it is,
    And we were young.

You can, but I get mine in-store at Cineworld. I have registered my Tesco Mastercard with quidco for in-store cashback, which means I spend £162 for the annual cinema pass (!!) but get 4.5% cashback via Quidco of £7.29 and then collect Tesco points as well because my credit card is my Clubcard too!

It's all these little things that add up :D

you are so good!!!! we only have an odeon and a vue in the city near us - got an odeon card but it only givess you points!!!

Ah! I see! You are doing NSD's for different sections :D

I feel daft now :rotfl:It is hard enough for me to keep up that I am 10/13 overall! DD's, food, the works. Going to have to start recording this stuff :o

Although the child benefit will be drawn in cash and used for the children activities seperately as they have an active social life, unlike their Mum :o

    Anyway-Well done so far :)

Thanx - well i am doing the grocery challenge aswell and it seems the only thing i am buy is petrol and food when we are desperate! So thought id do a seperate tally for petrol - we are hoping to go down to one car March as its so expensive - working it out like this has highlighted this even more!!!

I can't believe you're paying that much if your insulation is good

My house is a 4 bed-detached (with integral garage, which means the bedroom over it is generally colder than the others), with pretty good insulation as it's not quite 9 years old. I'm currently paying £43/month for gas and electricity (combined bill), but am aware it would be about £46-47 if I weren't in credit.

Mind, it did go down when DS2 moved out (I was paying £47 up until then) - he had a very energy hungry desktop computer, and even when he switched to a laptop just before going he still used a fair bit due to being on it for sooooo long every day/night.

our gas was £70 for the quarter got the bill at xmas and electric we were in credit from when i pay £40 the last quarter before, it cover this quarter too!! weve got a 3bed house! thats one area im great at!!!!

so i didnt go shopping tonight in the end!!!!! too tired!!

but i do have a question - i was given £2.50 today from a friend for a game - and bought me and hubby a can of fizzy from it (still got 60p left) but does that count? coz id have a NSD otherwise! im torn!!!
Frugal living challenge - need to revisit its been.a while !! Need to reduce our debts!!

 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

    Evening all:j
Managed a fairly thrifty shop at Sainsburys this evening- the lad who had reduced the veg called me back to confirm that he was just about to reduce everything again to 20p. Well it would have been rude to refuse wouldn't it:D
Am off to collect a pair of trousers for the small person from a fellow freecycler- it's unusual for there to be any clothes of his size and he's growing like Jack in the beanstalk at the mo'. I'm in danger of developing a crick in the neck as have to look up now when scolding him:rotfl::rotfl:If he doesn't like them then we'll pass them on again. He's fine with the idea of them being second hand though- his only comment was "well might as well try them- they're free after all". Woo hoo the child has inherited some of my gnat bottomed genes [although switching off lights etc seem to have bypassed him;)]

PS found another penny- I know it's sad but it always feels like I'm being given a present:D
Aiming for a life of elegant frugality wearing a new-to-me silk shirt rather than one of hair!

I forgot I got cat food and cat litter from a Freecycler yesterday which was welcome as I have four cats but sad as they had lost their nineteen year old cat. Same age as my first one when she died, although her son died first of cancer at thirteen.

Purely out of interest, are you in the Edinburgh/Lothian area as I have a friend who mentioned her cat had died at 19 and that would be a weird coincidence!
