Purely out of interest, are you in the Edinburgh/Lothian area as I have a friend who mentioned her cat had died at 19 and that would be a weird coincidence!

No East End girl through and through ...... well not really - Hertfordshire lass but have been here a good long while now!

  • I had a successful whoopsie hunt at Mr S earlier which was impressive given that it was only just after 5pm. The guinea pigs now have an organic cucumber to munch on ;) and I have a bag of rock-hard pears waiting to ripen plus a few other goodies. I hovered in the bread ailse (while stocking up on whoopsied hot cross buns) and having got fed up of waiting for the slow young man to price up the nice bread just asked him to mark down the loaf I wanted. He was incredibly sweet and helpful. Mr S none free range chickens are in 3 for 10 at the moment if that's of any use to anyone.

with beginning to pack to more, and trying to use up what we've got in - i've been drinking "Taboo" tonight, found by my mum in my old room a few years back... do they even still make it? :rotfl: i dont remember having it since i was a teenager! :rotfl: umm, white wine, vodka and peach juice marinated for 12 years! :rotfl: still gets you tiddly though!

youngmum - i'm sorry to hear about your rabbit.
rubytuesday - bravo on the 'home shopping' (tidying and finding things you didnt know you had!):T - did the same today with a bookcase and found a 5quid morrisons voucher :D

PS found another penny- I know it's sad but it always feels like I'm being given a present:D

:T me too! i've a seperate jar for finds... i tell myself i'll buy a piece of craft work or something handmade that i wouldnt otherwise get - so it's kinda like giving the found money to charity!? i found a 5note once! havent counted it in over a year, but it all adds up. (7p this week) But i've noticed less and less coppers/5ps around - i guess everyone is being more careful with their cash.

That is definitely true!:rotfl:It also means I have less chance of being dragged away from tidying the cupboard where everything falls out when I open the door!
Anyway I must get to bed to stop myself buying greatly reduced organic toiletries on Half Price Perfumes!

I've been awake hours. Just couldn't sleep.

I've managed to update my spreadsheets and also catch up this and the 'tough for 6 years threads'. Now I'm tired and want to go back to sleep  It's Saturday so I might just do that :D

Bit of spending day yesterday - but all accounted for in the budget.

Top up mine and OH's payg mobiles yesterday. I do this in boots so that I get the points towards any make-up purchases in the future.

Put money into the car savings account. Several years ago we worked out all the costs of running the cars, plus a bit extra for replacement, then divided this by 12 and put this sum of money away in a separate savings account. It was hard the first year because we hadn't built up a backstop of savings if a particularly big bill came in, but now it works very well. The money is there when we need it.

Part 2 of the monthly shop was done in Lidls. Strange how low some of the stock was. Did notice the 50p bread flour is now 69p. Still cheaper than Tesco's though.

Today I'm going to make a Scotch Broth in the slow cooker. I freeze this in portions to take with me to work next week.

Have a frugal Saturday everyone and big ((hugs)) to those who need one.
Enjoying an MSE OS life :D

Just updated my sig. Jan seems to be a really expensive month, with car needing its MOT, some repairs and taxing and my allotment fees due. I have put 12 months tax on the car instead of the usual 6 to save a bit of money (also I have just had my redundancy notice, so want to pay as much as I can while I still have a job. Looking at my spending diary, transport (including petrol) seems to be one of the biggest expenses. Need to have a think about that.
