and I was emailing someone in the hotel about it and she said that the tickets would be held for me until 7pm since we didn't arrive that early. We just wanted to go to a buffet for dinner, I don't really mind where, would there be somewhere else which would suit us better to go to before the show?

I would probably go to the buffet at MB- we find it's less stressful to eat somewhere near where we need to be for a show - seems every time we try to eat somewhere farther away, we run into a delay (like very long and unexpected taxi queues)...especially if you need to pick your tickets up by 7 anyway.

I think your idea to swap the outlets around makes sense...I do think after the long trip to and from the GC you're not necessarily going to want to get onto another coach. :)
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

The lions at Mirage should only take a few minutes to see as there are only a couple and they are in a small (ish) cage/enclosure but you may be in there longer if you want to see the dolphins being fed or doing a demo.

If you have to pick tickets up by 7 then you could eat at MB buffet but would need to get there by about 5.30. How are you getting to MB from Mirage

Looking with a bit of help for getting to the Fashion Outlets of Las Vegas (is this what everyone calls the Primm outlet?). I had planned on going the same day we go to the grand canyon, but we won't arrive back until about 12 and the bus times on the outlet website aren't that great because of this. I was just wondering if there was another way to get there and back? I don't really know what I would be looking at to try and find out myself.

I'm assuming your doing the helicopter ride as it's a 550 mile round trip to the south rim, otherwise 6hours just about gets you there.

Are you flying in from LA? Is it too late to change to a hire car? You can pick off Primm on the way in on I15. You could also nail Peggy Sue's diner (Bacon cheese burger, curly fries and a very nice malted) loads of tacky and super tacky souvenirs, That's where I bought my dashboard hula girl from.
  • Hi all,

Having not visited Vegas since I was pregnant with my son we have now decided that at some point in the next 6 months hubby and I would like to take the plunge and leave the toddler with his grandparents for a while and make the trip.

I feel so out of the loop though! I would ideally like to go for 4 or 5 nights from Manchester, although I would consider other airports if it is easier/cheaper (we live near Birmingham, my parents are in Derbyshire). I have had a quick scan for flights but at £598 per adult from Thurs to Sun with Virgin I can see it not happening at all!!

So, any tips for when I might get some cheaper flights (both in terms of time to go and time to book?), we are extremely flexible, my only real fixed thing is that I don't think a week would be possible.

Just the thought of being back there makes me :j:j

I was thinking about Mandalay Bay for the buffet but thought that the Mirage one would fit better with time, but either is fine, I'll go with MB if you's think that it would suit better as I really dont mind which we go to!
Yes, we're doing the helicopter ride, getting picked up at around 6 o'clock and should apparently be back for around 12.
I booked our flights with Southwest to fly from LA to Las Vegas, any idea if this could be changed to a hire car, or is it too late? I'm not really sure what their policy is.
We would probably get a taxi from Mirage to MB? Is this a good idea, or should we find another way?

Taxi will be quickest should only take 10 minutes, rank to rank, either buffet is fine MB is better than Mirage though and if it was me I would rather get to MB and get my tickets. have you been allocated seats if not you will get whatever is left when you get there

First thing I would recommend personally would be to train it to London - prices would be significantly cheaper and train tickets can be found very very cheaply.

I would also recommend flying Thursday - Tuesday as these tend to be the cheapest for flights and the savings outweigh the extra hotel rates you have to pay.

Direct or indirect? Pretty sure indirect flights are less than £400 atm, quick look on Expedia from Thu 23/2/12 to Tue 28/2/12 show cheapest flight to be £375pp.

    Hi MFD

I don't know if this is any good for you, but I've priced this up for myself and DH (I'm wanting to do the exact same hol, just 2013 lol) so I did this for an idea of pricing :D

8-13 March from Manchester staying in the MGM Grand comes out at £1127 with expedia.

Southwest have a very generous rebook policy. You could cancel those flights and get a credit valid for up to a year. Personally though I think it's quite a boring drive and would stick with flying.
I never hire a car in Vegas unless planning on a National Park etc -never missed it.

Is that price for 2 people, I guess it must be as there are some sub £400 flights around at the mo for next march, no telling what the price would be march 2013 though or what the exchange rate will be

edit just looked and it is for 2 but it isnt the full price there is $20 +tax a night resort fee to add on,as it is only 5 nights, with a sub £400 flight you could do it slightly cheaper DIY
