MarchDon't forget also they don't expire which is a good job as the ones I got in 2009 are still to be used. I take them with me for a little visit and then bring them home unused....:o:DDFW Nerd 267. DEBT FREE 11.06.08

Marchthe saving is actually less than that - because you probably wouldn't leave an 18% tip normally and the sales tax (where applicable) would not be calculated on the bill amount + 18%.
It's still a good deal though - but less so great if you have to order more than you would normally do just to meet the minimum spend.
I can't remember now for certain, but it seems like you actually only pay tax on the food/drink value after the discount - I'm about 98.5% certain that is the case...so you're saving tax there too...and photome is right - they do not tax you on the tip.
we always leave at least 18% anyway, unless service is dire...some places don't have or don't enforce the required gratuity...but to leave a tip on the reduced balance after the voucher is deducted would be very poor form indeed...it's not the waitresses' fault you have a voucher. and anyway, we figure we're saving a load on the meal, so if a bit extra goes to the server, then we still have a pretty darn good deal.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

So how much would you normally tip?
We always tip 15-20% depending on the service. Always 20% at Alize even though it's the most expensive meal of the trip as the service is faultless.
Most r.com restaurants automatically add an 18% gratuity based on the full price to prevent people stiffing the waitresses by tipping on the discounted amount.
As ferf says, it's not the waitress's fault that you got a discount and she is giving the same service as if you had paid full price. Really bad form to tip on the discounted amount and r.com even state on the certs to tip on the pre-discount amount.0 -

* we have bought about 3 in the past, but never ended up using them.
PS except for Austins Steakhouse. Fab place for steak.
PSS, now if they did one for MAG, mmmm! The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -
OctoberWell, I guess no one on here has done a helicopter trip over the strip? I thought someone would be able to recommend something?:(0

MarchWelcome back Ferv....any lucky hits on Wheel Of Fortune? Did you try wicked spoon?
Hi ! No dramatic wins on WOF this trip...we did try Wicked Spoon but for dinner as brunch just never worked. It was very good but did fall into the 'for $70 we'd generally go to a proper sit-down restaurant' for us. The food was very good, and did I either miss or block out the words 'mac and cheese station'?! OMG, that was awesome.
I do see what stoneman meant about the desserts though - yes, there were loads of options...but none of the types of desserts I normally go for (cake/pie sorts of things). Not that I am THAT picky - I was more than happy by the time we left, but I doubt we would go back unless we had a discount.
I also spent $20 in the Art-O-Matic machines and would undoubtedly have spent more if my husband hadn't dragged me away.
We did make good use of the LVA vouchers too - so thank you again! I think after I distribute to those who are due one I will have one spare so will double check that and offer any remainders up this weekend.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
Im going to Las Vegas for the first time ever in late July. I havent traveled since before 9/11 and may have forgotten some of the travel nice to knows. I am hoping to actually pay for this trip, since I have been saving instead of putting on my cc and revolve it for the next 5 years. I was thinking of taking about 1000 in cash and travelers checks, Ill be there for about 7 nights and 8 days. Is this achieveable? Ill be staying at the LV Hilton with a convention rate.
