It is and I cannot think of any reason, barring ridiculous roadworks or an accident, that they could justify taking you via the tunnel to MGM - it would be bonkers...even then, I'm not sure that it would help...maybe in a very particular situation...the red route below is the tunnel...and yeah, it's terribly old but I think it's a good, if a bit difficult to read, graphic.

LOL......I live in Vegas and always make sure I tell the cabbie as soon as I get in.......no bull then with roadworks etc. They used to always try the longer route rubbish because I am an expat with an english accent. Thought I'd just fell out the tree0 -
MayJust make sure you state "No tunnel thank you" as soon as you get in the taxi. If you get any bull, as we have in the past when he asked how we wanted to go then, just say, "Via Swenson".
I even had one say, "What tunnel?" so I asked him if there was more than one, then said, "You know which tunnel!"0 -
In the interests of moneysaving, I suggest you keep schtum about tunnels, and once you get to your hotel, call the cab company - free taxis!!!The supervisor said the fare Zakarian collected would be refunded, a standard company policy upon learning of a long-haul.illegitimi non carborundum0

Which is fine if you want to sod about waiting for a taxi supervisor to show up to sort it instead of checking in.
Unfortunately the British accent almost guarantees they will try it on if you don't specify -and I'm always so amazed how every time I go to Vegas there are magic road works that were there that day but as if by magic have vanished by the time I drive past !!
And totally OT I leave Heathrow on Thursday for a non Vegas trip-Washington Phoenix and Vancouver here I come ! :TI Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Can't remember who was asking recently about tours to Hoover Dam, but todays Groupon Las Vegas deal is a 5 hour tour including transport to/from your hotel for $39pp if it's of any interest? We just drove there so not sure how accurate their full value of $79 is, but might be worth a look.

Available to purchase until (roughly, I can't quite work out the times!) Monday morning, so time to do a bit of research before you commit if needed.0 -
MarchWe are looking at that but wife is not that sure she wants to spend 3-4 hours watching football. - have you been before and would it be easy to leave early if she gets really bored LOL.
Getting out of venues is not a problem, they always have a staffed gate for people to leave, I was at a couple of 51's games in May, amazing to see people leaving very early on.
I'll be going to the Southern Utah game on the 24th Sept, $56 for both of us and I think there will be a parking charge, at the baseball it was only $6 to park.
I may well wait til I get there and buy tickets at the town centre mall, avoiding some $8.75 in taxes and charges online. It also avoids having tickets and then other people wanting to come along and the palava of trying to arrange sitting together.
Seating looks reasonable section 127 near the halfway line.
There is a 2 for 1 promo that I couldn't seem to get to work, seat price is $19 but for 2 still comes out at $56?
We'll be driving but I don't know how public transport gets there as the stadium is located east of Boulder highway between Russel and East Flamingo.0 -
SeptemberCheers Spursman, that is the same game we are hoping to attend - we will be driving there so no probs with transport. Kathy is looking forward to it but I have a niggling suspicion that she may change her mind after a couple of hours. Then again if I’m there it stops me gambling so very money saving.Totally Debt Free & Mortgage Free Semi retired and happy0

OctoberHeat warning!
It has been about 108f here for the past few days but they have issued a heat warning lol, like 108 doesn't qualify for a warning
It is 9am and already 100f expecting to stay around 110f for the next few daysThe common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -
November / DecemberWell everyone I've booked our flights to Vegas for november which makes it real now (can't contain my excitement) plus I'm completely addicted to this site and all the money saving tips. I've yet to book a hotel I'm on the look out for a great deal, now I know I've asked the credit card and incidental question before but Im getting increasingly worried that I don't have a credit card and e-bookers and Expedia hotel descriptions are all saying that a credit card is mandatory and cash won't be accepted, of those of you who have been recently was you asked for a credit card for incidentals? If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you always get so....this year I'm going to do things differently!0
