The WSOP starts tomorrow, good luck to any on here who are heading across to take part, if you do then let us all know how you get on and your thoughts on the madness. I know Koloko is giving it a spin, so take it down, be interesting to see whether the field sizes (and subsequently the money) are dramatically affected as a result of the FBI's activities with online poker.

    Hi all,

Can anybody help with advice or suggestions:

We are getting married in Vegas next April and will be booking flights and hotel for approx 10 people, mostly family. we have visited Vegas before a few times so we have our faves etc. I usually search for flights through ita or kayak and book through expedia, ebookers. Am I better to book all couples individually or do a group booking. Should we mention the wedding as the reason for the group booking or does this just give them a reason to jack up the price? Who would you suggest to use for a group booking if this is the best way?

We like to stay in the central strip area, mid priced (Ballys/Flamingo) or would consider Monte Carlo and we will be flying from Manchester. We normally go with US Airways as they always seem to be the cheapest and we have found them to be comfortable enough.

I have been keeping tabs on the prices for next April through a few different websites and havent noticed any real cheap ones as yet, Ballys cheapest ive seen is around £50-£80 per night and im sure ive paid less than that in the past. Flights are around 650 to 750 and again this seems high. Any Advice would be welcomed.

    Cheers

    Greg

    Hello again,

    Didnt I say please???? ;)

    Somebody must have some advice

Also have been looking at maybe having a few nights at either the Bellagio with a Lakeview or the Cosmo with a premium view, having had a look around the Bellagio rooms seem basic but the view spectacular and the cosmo has good rooms but cant seem to find if you can state a lake view as some look out onto the strip and also my other half has seen the big bellagio sign structure and would be devastated if we got a room where the view was blocked by this........any opinions or advice on this?

    Thanks

    Greg

I dont think its big enough for a proper discounted group booking eg for conventions they book hundreds or thousands of rooms for groups. Where is your wedding......if its at the casino, the wedding planning department may have a group booking facility. Around Xmas youll start to see discounts on rooms for April. Dont know what you mean about the Bellagio sign structure but I'll have a look to see what youre on about!!!

Having stayed in a Bellagio lake view room and a Cosmopolitan Premium View room, I would choose the Cosmo every time.

There is absolutely nothing special about the Bellagio room apart from the view and I actually preferred the view from the balcony at the Cosmo rather than through glass at the Bellagio.

    Just my opinion.

If it were us - couples would book individually...that way, if anything went wrong with anyone dropping out - it would be down to them to deal with...did it used to be the case that all people in the party had to be present to check in for the flight? I'm sure that was the case at some point, but maybe I'm making that up...if I'm not, another reason to book couples individually - rather than having to all be there at the same time and potentially having someone running late delaying the whole group.

I agree with Froggit - it's not a big enough group to warrant any discounts.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

I think I read somewhere on the 2010 thread that Luci has a Las Vegas blog? Is this true, and does anyone have a link to it if so?

Can anyone here recommend The Palazzo? Seems to be £80- £100 cheaper than the Venetian, Cosmo, Mirage or Bellagio for the 3 nights we are staying in September(Mon-Thu)

The rooms are good at Palazzo, but how have you found it cheaper than the Venetian, it is usually the other way round as the Palazzo is the Venetians new tower

If its cheaper than Mirage I would book it NOW as it should be about double the price of the Mirage, ie I have a reservation at Mirage for Aug for $56 a night plus resort fee but The Palazzo is always more than double that
