MayWhen we went last year we spent slot of $$ on 3 shows & going to the grand canyon. We didn't have a lot in our budget to gamble with and I found it a bit frustrating, as I love to have a flutter. We did lots of shopping & I got some lovely zip Up Uggs in the sale for $99. They were over £220 in office when I got back so was very happy.
This year was different....it was all about the gambling. I love the machines, mainly sex and the city and often did really well on these. My hubby rarely got on the bonus but one of the times he won $222 with a 50cent bet. More than happy. Which ever hotel we visited I tracked down this machine and had a play. Hubby liked Texas Hold em poker & had some really good runs on this, and for three days we did not have to get any cash out of the safe, as we ate, shopped and gambled on the winnings. Not huge by some standards but plenty to keep us going. Loved it but think it was a one off and wouldn't rely on this in the future. We used total rewards card in all Harrahs properties. The only place I couldnt was Bills. We liked it there though because he went on tables while I was on sex and the city so win win. I did enjoy sitting watching hubby on the tables. I don't really play but will have a little go on casino war as it is easy & a game of chance!
Spent lots of time shopping, especiacially in the Abercrombie & Fitch stores. Lots oof bargains to be had!0 -
JuneI've just been looking at my souvenir nik naks from last time (I save ticket stubs and stuff from Vegas) and came across some players cards from our last trip. We have a Palzzo, Wynn red card and the Harrahs group one.
I'm just wondering, will these still be valid, or is it worth signing up again? Tbh I forgot about them and I think when we signed up they said that the points earned only lasted 6 months or so. So just wondering if we should take them and go up to reception to see what goodies we can get or just start again?
They are about 3 years old so what would be the best thing to do, please?BEST EVER WINS WON IN ORDER (so far) = Sony Camcorder, 32" lcd telly, micro ipod hifi, Ipod Nano, Playstation 3, Andrex Jackpup, Holiday to USA, nintendo wii, Liverpool vs Everton tickets, £250 Reward Your thirst, £500 Pepsi, p&o rotterdam trip, perfume hamper, Dr Who stamp set, steam cleaner.

MayIf you try to sign up again they will see that you are still a member when they enter your ID info. They will still be valid even if the points have expired.0

MaySorry if I'm boring you, but a few interesting facts I think!
At the end of our stay we had 2 nights comped, which I was surprised at because we had spent lots of time gambling but we had won most back. We had a good rate at PH because some one I know (who is a big spender, out of our league) put is in touch with the casino host and I e-mailed her direct. Lots of people said if you see a price, contact the hotel and ask them what is the cheapest they will do it for.
Finally, cause I can hardly keep my eyes open....we flew BA from Heathrow. When we got to LV airport to check in, they told us that the flight was over booked and asked if we were prepared to go on standby and fly the next day. They offered to put us up in a hotel off the strip (the Westinn I think as that's where the crew stay) evening meal, and either $800 dollars each or $1200 travel voucher. We looked at each other and quickly worked out what commitments we had. Not back at work till Monday, dogs & teenage daughter were fine and we even had money left over. After about 30 seconds we said yes please, & hubby asked how many others were on stand by. They told us 8 so far.
We had to check in as normal & bags went through but they had a big yellow "stand by" label on them. She said wait by the gate & we would get paged if we had been picked.....in order I think.
On looking at our tickets we had Ben given separate seats so I went back to the check in desk and I said if we do fly I'd prefer to fly together as I get a little bit nervous & 10 hours is a bit long to be on my own. She said, don't worry about that, your staying here!
We were absolutely made up and thought this never happens to us. The best win of the holiday. Unfortunately, when the people were called to come forward, we were not one of them and had to come home (separately on the flight). Was absolutely gutted. We knew there was a chance that we wouldn't get it but she had advised us we were staying.........so we were fuming.
The flight home was not very enjoyable as I was in the aisle on the last row & every single time the trolley went past, it knocked into the back of my seat. Not nice when your just nodding off. They appeared to be a very young crewcand did not seem to be very professional. My hubby's tray was broken so could not eat on it and the steward just said, there's nothing I can do about that, before attempting to stick a leaflet in it to hold it together. I also heard them making a few innaproriate comments but i didn't want to complain to them because they may think it was sour grapes.......although I am going to put the standby episode in writing to customer services.
It didnt spoil my trip altogether though because I adore LV. This was only my 2nd time there and we loved it just as much. All the Americans asked us if we went to the Royal wedding.......they loved it!
Hubby is just on laptop comparing prices for our next trip back there. Last year we stayed at MGM, this year PH but think next time we may do Bills, Harrahs or flamingos. More money in our pocket to spend and we did spend lots of time in that area.
Finally, does anybody know why the mirage is taking down the Beatles love posters off the sides of the hotel? They started a couple of days ago and it was nearly cleared off when we left this afternoon......all gold and shiny again!0 -
MarchHi Lisa - thanks for your posts - some good info there and glad that you had a good and winning trip..sorry about the standby episode, that would have been disappointing.Sorry if I'm boring you, but a few interesting facts I think!

Comps won't be based on how much you lose, in general they'll be based on a formula which says that you staked $XXX, on average you would have lost $YYY (based on the casino's advantage on the particular type of game), and $YYY multiplied by a % = the comps you are due. That's a bit oversimiplifed, but you get the idea...you could come back a winner and have had your room comped.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

Because it was 3 years ago - I would play dumb and try signing up again if it were me...I wouldn't take the cards to the players club desk as that will make it clear you're not new members...but just go up to join and if they say you already have a membership act surprised and that's that, they will give you a new card.
We have signed up more than once a few places but only when there's a considerable amount of time since we last used the card.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
Just found this link to a WOW photo on Vegasmessageboard
http://www.gigapan.org/gigapans/76785/
Taken with a £9000 camera from the 61st floor of the Cosmo, play about with the photo and zoom in to see what people are eating lol
You can even see people in the pool at Platinum (maybe stoneman)
Tried to find the !!!!!! slappers in their usual places... failed
Found batman walking outside Caesars Palace fountain thohe looks a bit sad tho!
I can confirm that I couldn't find wally anywhere...
There's also a bus going into hyperspace just outside Paris (outside 'Chateu something'??), and Darth Vader and co seem to have all moved up from MGM to between Bills and Bally's - though maybe it's cooler than it usually is so they can stand in the sun without melting?
Keep meaning to ask, does anyone know what the work is that's going on outside PlanetHo / Miracle Mile??0 -

Thats very close to Vegas
Calico which is a lot further away is a ghost town (I think from memory)
Only half an hour and you could always visit Red Rock canyon which is 'next door'. Although Valley of Fire is much, much better...just a 'bit' further..:T0 -
May"Batman" got beaten up on the strip yesterday outside the ABC Store near MGM. You should be able to find it on YouTube.0
