Indeed. Emerged from Mirage pool towards end November with the smuggled budgie well and truly frozen.illegitimi non carborundum0

MarchI was deeply depressed this afternoon, had leave for next week confirmed (using up last years entitlement before end of month or lose it). Checked Virgin £1,600 economy return cough!.
trawled everywhere found a sub £600 flight but the timings were terrible. So went on Expedia and booked flight + hotel for £800, fly out Sunday back overnight on Saturday.......with Virgin!!!
I don't get it, I should but I don't, I got the flight and hotel (Gold Coast) for half the VA flight cost.
Let a few friends know and they all wished me luck....NOT, all the replies were one four letter word, no prizes. My shortest trip since 2007 but I couldn't pass it up. Only shame is I'll miss the Paquiao fight on Saturday.

MarchFirst off read page 1 of this thread. Then if there is anything NOT covered ask away. BTW October would be my preferred time to go. Weather is still warm enough to sit out by the pool. November temps start to drop and it becomes more unsettled.
I would agree, even though we used to love going in early November as we like it a bit cooler.
I also think it's worth looking at the average temps in October if considering a trip then as temps vary pretty dramatically from the beginning to end of the month.

Of course average are averages - could be much hotter or much cooler.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

Awesome - that does seem like a silly good deal - and how cool to book such a spur of the moment trip to Vegas.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

It's all about the Saturday night stay - basically if you book direct with a airline you need to stay away on a Saturday night or they class you as a business traveller.
Likewise people who travel at the last minute are normally business people as 'holiday' people tend to book well in advance. Whereas business people book at the last minute irrespective of fares as they 'have to get where they are going'. I flew Prem Econ to NYC and Upper from LAX once at quite short notice and it was over £3k with work
Expedia/Opodo buy blocks off seats and can put them together in packages as they see fit, I spoke to Virgin previously as I am in the airmiles programme but they cant match the price. For a friend to fly it was £850 with Opodo including 4 nights at PH or £1600 for just the flights with VA due to no sat night stay.
Also for the Peepshow question, I got half price tickets at t4t for VIP seats a few years ago, the table winnings paid for that one0 -

We got Peepshow Tickets straight from Planet Hollywood box office last year when there were none left at any of the ticket places. We got good seats at the cheapest rate as they were doing that thing where they move everyone forward to make it look more full. They werent that expensive I dont think0 -
OctoberDon't know what went wrong with the Bellagio fountains last night. From 6.30pm till midnight, the ONLY song that was played was "Time To Say Goodbye". Every 15 mins.
Now that is my favourite like a lot of people, but after about the 4th time I was getting sick of it.The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -
Just wondering if anyone had any alternate contact details for this, or information as to whether it was still going?
The http://www.shootingsafaris.com/ website doesn't appear to be working for me (not sure if this is an intermitant problem?), and i tried phoning few times over the past couple of days, and it just rings through to voicemail?
Any ideas anyone?
(got the phone number from here: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/place?hl=en&rlz=1T4GGLL_en-GBGB302GB302&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=%22shooting+safaris%22+%22las+vegas%22&fb=1&gl=uk&hq=%22shooting+safaris%22&hnear=Las+Vegas,+NV,+USA&cid=2935050799328757213 - seems to be correct as voicemail is 'This is Tom Kock from shooting safaris, leave a message' (or something like that))0 -
Does anyone know if there's a way to avoid your credit card getting a hold on it when checking in?
Was about to book the cosmo but it says they put a $150 per day hold on your card. We're going for 6 days (after a week in SF) and i doubt there will be $900 left on it by the time we reach vegas0 -
MayI may be wrong, but I think it's a daily hold rather than all 6 days together.
I would suggest calling them to clarify.0
