Hi, This is my first post here, but have spent hours reading thru this forum today and picked up some great tips from you all! I'm off to Vegas on 25th to 30th August with other half and cant wait :j this will be our second trip to vegas last went in 2007 and sounds like its changed a lot since then. We're staying at the Riviera this time, last time at Treasure Island. We didnt visit the Riviera b4, so would like some thoughts on it from people. Also quite interested in the 20 dollar tip (anything 4 a bargain!) so wondered if anybody had tried it there.

    Thanks

as their giving free nights away at the moment i'd want $20 off them to be staying and actually paying. Any reason you are staying there, its now probably the last old casino on the strip

Some quick questions regarding the deuce. Is is possible to buy the 24h passes on the bus or do we need to get them at Ticket Vending machines? Further, my dad will need to be in a wheel chair, is there enough space to get him into the bus or is the deuce to small for that?

    Thanks!

So to calm my nerves has anyone any experience of using it at the Paris Hotel?

Yes. There's no need to feel awkward, it really isn't unusual in Vegas. We tried at Paris about 2 years ago, and have tried it at many hotels in Vegas. Our room had a fountains view in Paris, but in all honesty, I'm not sure we got any better a room than we were going to get before the tip. What's the worst that can happen? :)

Must admit some of the reviews i've read about Riviera have made me nervous as last time we had an amazing room with best view of the strip and free upgrade at TI. We didnt really choose Riviera, it worked out cheaper with travel agents to book flight with riviera included then if we booked flights on there own, so free rooms may explain that!

Do you tip in a restaurant over here? Think of it like that, but tipping at the beginning of the meal in anticipation of good service.

Maybe get some practice in pre-tipping over here when you order your meal. e.g. "Two onion soup, one lamb, one steak, both with chips, and here's your £20 tip". I bet you get grrrrrrrreat service!!!

I've tried it twice at Paris and both times being given a 'P' room which are corner rooms that are larger than standard room. I didnt have a view in either room so if thats what you would like maybe be specific when handing over tip and ask if there's a nice room with strip view available.

I was very nervous about trying it first time and my sister didn't want to ask but I thought what is there to lose?. You never see the receptionist again. As long as you're polite and not demanding they will usually try to do something for you.

Have now done it everytime at different hotels and always had upgrade.

    Good Luck!
