Booked the Carriage house for March, looks like our sort of place. Went for the 1 bed suite with kitchenette because it has the bigger bathroom with a tub compared to the one with full kitchen. Good rate of $92 a night inc tax as well with the AAA rate (just show your AA card). Thanks to Trinker and others that found out about this place

Plus free internet and no resort fee which is bluddy brilliant as far as I'm concerned.:D

Sorry about that, just a slip of the fingers on keyboard, amended now Stinker;)
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

    Hi all,

We're heading back to Vegas in September to get married and we're now starting to investigate flight options, preferably from Manchester.

I'm aware of the ever increasing cost of flights, however, it seems to me that flights to Vegas are extremely expensive now - regardless of whether they're direct or indirect.

For example, return with Virgin (either from Manchester or Gatwick) is coming out around the £650 - regardless of whether this is within their sales dates or not.

And to think we got return flights from Manchester with AA last September for £415. Obviously I'm not expecting anything like that rate now (even in a sale), but I just can't seem to work out why the cost of Vegas flights seems so inflated.

Does anyone have any ideas as to why, or predictions as to whether it's worth holding off booking flights for a few months, bearing in mind that the general rule is the earlier you book them, the cheaper they are?

    Many thanks.

We are flying BA to las vegas from heathrow on a boing 777 where do you advise we try to sit and would you pay in advance or wait till 24 hours before flight to choose seats thanks

We flew back from Vegas to LHR last July with BA. We pre-paid for seats over the phone ten-days before take-off in order to secure the 2 exit row seats. It cost us £50 each but definitely worth it for the leg-room on the night flight.

Flying Manc-Vegas direct this July with Virgin and a bit sceptical at the moment to be honest after reading all of the info above - not sure we're going to be able to get the exit rows however we have managed to get the 2 seats together towards the back.

To us and to many these are the best of the bunch even though it means last off the plane...the first and last rows of the pairs are the worst of them...last row because people waiting for the loos will lean on your seat while they are waiting (so annoying), first row because you've got a 3-seater row in front of you.

I wouldn't be too worried about the flight - if you're expectations are managed, you will likely think it was great - many think it's absolutely fine. :) We used to fly exclusively with Virgin to Vegas and accepted the flaws...it's all what you are used to I think...now that we've flown with AA (always choosing the flight times on 777s) we are a lot more conscious of the difference.

I won't fly with a carrier if I have to pay to select my seat in advance, but if for some reason I did, I wouldn't wait...it's too long a flight to take what's left....I'd break it down to an hourly charge per seat and pretty sure I could justify £5/hour to have the best of what I could get.

Though I suppose it depends when you are flying - if it's relatively soon, then maybe not...but if it's a long way out, I would definately pay...but different things have differnet values to different people. :)

We decided to go direct as we are getting married and I will have extra baggage with my wedding dress. Were really pleased when VA announced direct from Manc as getting to London airports is about a four hour trip for us - to be honest, I'm sure it will be fine and now we know, in future we'll book AA indirect (now that we are bad Vegas addicts!!!) :A

I'm not sure what planes Virgin will use on the Manchester route though (haven't really paid attention as we never fly from Manchester :)) - as others have said, Virgin to other long-haul destinations is a completely different thing - Chicago, LA, Sydney - brilliant, in our experience...it's just the (usually) tired planes, the rowdy crowds, and the junior flight crew that let the LGW-LAS route down at the moment.

And congrats on the wedding. :)

Anyone been to Los Cabos/Cabo San Lucas (Baja California, Mexico)?? We're looking at splitting up our Vegas time with a week in Vegas, get married then a week in Mexico (all-inc) for a week at the Zoetry, then heading back to Vegas for another week.

Vegas bit is already booked - just thought I'd ask my ever knowledgeable forumites in case anyone has any insider info before we book Cabo
